I see it all now. Bob M on the prowl. Tomi D is wingman. Bob M nods. Tomi D swoops in to distract the less attractive 'friend'. Bob M walks up and offers the cute one a 'Lucky'. ...or is that 'get lucky'? |

Bob, maybe Tomi can be your spotter. Since he will already be in the grassy area, let hope he won't be in the hospital area this time, he could keep an eye out for all the lovely ones. |

"Get in trouble" for that pic? Are you kidding? I couldn't ask for better "press coverage". Unfortunately Candace (the good looking one in that photo) won't be in HI for this year's BFB get together so it'll be off to the grassy area again for me, in hopes of finding another dance partner. |

Without the smoking area, Bob M would have nowhere to 'chat up' the visiting Navy Reserve gals.

"No smoking at the BFB either, smokers had to go out to the grassy area!!" That seems rather heavy-handed, seeing as how the BFB is outside and there's usually a breeze coming off the ocean. But since I don't smoke, I won't lose any sleep over the new policy. |

When we were there in Nov they had "live human Hawaiian music" at the BFB from 1700-1900 every night I believe. They actually set up in the far corner of the tables and chairs, towards the beach. Very nice to listen to. Disco is still at 2000hrs. No smoking at the BFB either, smokers had to go out to the grassy area!! |

Roger-- Sunset on the 27th is 6:19pm. So, I would say 5pm at the latest for our start. Part of the fun is watching the sun set. |

I am comming in the 27th as the notice said the event was the 29-31. I can set notice for each night at the BFB. What is good starting time, anyone from the Rota group know what worked for them |

Perhaps individual folks could 'own' specific events. For example, somebody mentioned hiking. If they could organize, advertise, and lead that, then it will get done and folks will have a good time. I pulled up the monthly schedules for the clubs. They don't have January up yet, but it looks like the NCO club has mongolian BBQ on Thursday nights, just like last year. If someone could 'own' that and double check with the club and post it, that would be another good event. Another thing that would be nice is to insure that someone is at the BFB each night to 'gather the flock'. So, if someone who is sure that they are going to be there Thursday afternoon (or Wednesday) could 'own' that and post an appropriate starting hour, that would help. So, I would argue that we should try to have specific gatherings, each with a specific point spat. |

"Is there someone spearheading this group meeting?" Not officially, as of yet. I helped get the ball rolling for the BFB but since my odds of making it back from the P.I. by the 29th are only 50/50 I can't spearhead the meeting. Maybe someone who has confirmed commercial tickets as well as confirmed Hale Koa reservations??? Or one of the SPATs living on the Island? That way, we know the co-ordinator will actually BE there, as opposed to being stuck in some PAX terminal across the pond awaiting a flight to HIK. |
