March 15th, I did a tally on the "2010 BFB timing poll" thread and the "Suggestions on 2010 timing" thread. The results are as follows Jan 28-31 13 votes Early Feb 7 votes After 20 Jan 1 vote Looks like BFB will be 29-31 Jan 2010. I will put together a list of suggested activities for the get together. However meeting at the BFB at 1700 would always be the default meeting place/activity. |

I looked at both threads and looks like end Jan is the majority so can we go with that one. Roger in Fl |

David: I agree it's time to decide. The 2010 BFB timing poll thread can be that vehicle, in the absence of a "regular poll". To anyone wanting their preference known, post it there. |

Jennifer and I really enjoyed the BFB 2009 reunion and plan on attending the BFB 2010 event. We prefer 28-31 Jan (Thur-Sun)for the 2010 event. |

I e-mailed Dirk a suggestion that he run a poll on this but haven't heard back. It is time to decide. David |

I agree with the Feb. date. Even though we had no problem getting to Hawaii because we went out of North Island, I saw a trend developing. Parents and children coming down from Travis to take advantage of that little known route. Had there been a rush from Travis, we may not have gotten out from NI. I anticipate the word getting out and NI becoming a second "Travis" during January. |

John, I believe it has always run at least four days so that would be 28-31 Jan (Thur-Sun). I'm in for those dates. |

I would like to suggest that we take a poll of what weekend the 2010 BFB should take place and what ever the consensus is, that we decide on that weekend. This would allow those that want to make room reservations, to make them. Suggest we keep this poll open until March 15, then take a tally and make a decision. I vote for Jan 30-31 2010. |

I prefer the last weekend of January, too. The Travis logjam is usually broken a week prior to that. |

The end of Jan worked for me, no trouble with flights or rooms. Travis opeded up around 21 Jan. The only problem with Feb is Superbowl Sunday and Presidents day weekend. Whatever is decided we should pick a date so those that want to make reservations at the Hale Koa, can. |

We are not home yet from this year's BFB but we didn't have any trouble with rides or rooms. The middle of winter seems like the perfect time to go to Hawaii from the north. I would vote for the last week-end in January. However... we will most likely go whenever it is. There are other places to fly to Hawaii from than Travis. David & Audrey |

There were only a handful of people who didn't make it this year and I think they might have given up too soon. As Rich said, there were many opportunities for flights and ample lodging. Having attended the past two years, I'd like to see it remain the last weekend of Jan for 2010. |

There are lots of posts from people that have never been to the BFB get-together so here's my 2 cents. This year rooms availibity and travel from the west coast were best Jan 21st until Feb 5th. I was told yesterday that no rooms are available at HIK until 3/15/09. No Pro Bowl next year here. |

I agree with a Febuary date. We can't seem to get in the going mood until after the first of Feb. After many years of living in Hawaii and visiting children who lived in Hawaii; we haven't been for about 10 years and I would love to see the moon coming up over Diamond Head one more time. This is a 50th Anniversary year so it was packed with events but next year....the BFB in Feb., 2010. Carol in Ocala |

The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played in Miami. After that it apparently goes to rotation among several cities. |

Is the Pro Bowl still scheduled to be played in Honolulu in 2010? If so, better check the date before planning the BFB. It's the first full weekend in Feb this year. I hear billeting is difficult to get during Pro Bowl weekend; ditto for off-base hotels. |

Bill, I think the problem with January is that each year, the kids and parents are going back later after the holidays. It makes getting a flight hard on the cat VI folks. |

I'm with Cherry. January is is a hard month to get away. Have the Christmas things to take down put away and get back to normal, what ever that is. We also have a family birthday in the middle of the month so February would be great. Not to mention football season and the BIG game. |

Cherry I agree 100%, I thought we had discussed it here last year about changing it to Feb, but nothing was set in stone/concrete. Not that I would say for sure I/We would make it, but a couple weeks later would make it easier from my point of view. |

Because it seems it takes longer and longer every January for the backlog of Cat III families heading for Hawaii to clear out at Travis, may I make a suggestion about scheduling for next year's Barefoot Bar rendezvous? That would be to stick it into early February (for the reason just given above). In addition, February is a tough month for northerners so they should appreciate a tropical getaway more then, than in January when there's still some afterglow left over from Christmas and the New Year. (At least, all my friends living in New York state and New England plan their Caribbean cruises, trips to Florida, Mexican jaunts, etc., for the month of February, because they tell me that by then they are TOTALLY fed up with winter...) |
