It's probably a rare occurrence (for verbose authors) but if the text is too long to paste then just make more than one entry in the same thread. |

John D. & RAB, thanks for the info. I will break up any future trip reports into parts for posting. And, yes, I tend to be verbose when talking about something I love......Space-A travel! |

Danny et al, I think it has to do with the amount of text you're pasting/posting at one time in one message. Your report was quite lengthy and when I tried to cut and past it I too got an error. When I tried to cut-n-paste a portion of your report it seemed to work. There's probably a character limit to what a single message can take. That's my unsubstantiated explanation! |

Wanda, Leland told me how to save text in the .rtf format, so if I continue to have problems with pasting text into a board post I will use an .rtf file. I doubt if I will be trying to paste any text into a posting on this board until after our next Space-A trip, that probably won't happen until next fall. |

Wanda, I think you may mean RTF (Rich Text Field) that is able to keep certain formatting like bold, italic, underline. Although MS Word can save to this format, you will frequently find it with Windows Write, a program that comes with Windows that does not have Office on it. I have no problem copying and pasting within the Post window. Occasionally I will want to save a post rather than upload it to the board so that I can check some aspect of it for accuracy. I can't offer an explanation for what is going on but can not report any negative attempt on my part. Roger in Jacksonville, FL |

I am on a computer at the local VA - supposed to be doing my volunteer work visiting with female patients! I can't remember exactly, but... When I finally had to time to convert my Guam word processing files to "RTF" (can't remember for sure - but it did start with an "R") and did a cut and paste. The posting did fly that time. So.... But, I agree with Danny, something is amiss. So, Danny look and see if you have the option of saving as a rtf - or whatever it is. If you can't find it, post again and I will check later as to exactly. |

Hi, John D. I am already using Notepad. I use Notepad for storing many .txt files. All my Space-A trip reports are stored as .txt files. Yes, I'm using the same computer, same browser as I have used in the past. I just read another poster (Wanda) who tried to post a report of her visit to Tinian, but was also experiencing trouble trying to copy & paste the text into the Post box. She finally attached a .docx file and someone converted it to an .rtf file so everyone could open it. As she was having trouble pasting and I seemed to be having the same problem, I thought I should make a posting in the Problems string. Sounds as though you do not know why we are having this problem. I hope we can work on it and make it so everyone can paste into the Post box, John. Please let me know if I can do anything to help fix this problem. I am always happy to try to help. |

Danny, What program are you copying the text from? Is it the same program (version etc...) and browser you've used successfully in the past? Have you tried to cut and paste from notepad (assuming you are running Windows)? |

I tried several times to copy and paste the text of my trip report into a new thread's "Post" box, but was unable to do so. I finally "attached" the text file. After doing so, I opened the attachment and found that the text was now double-spaced and I had to use the side to side scroll bar in order to read each line. This just AIN'T RIGHT! In the past, I successfully posted several trip reports using the "copy & paste" method of moving text. What has changed? Danny Hamilton dannyhamilton1@yahoo.com |
