Since we left the 1 to 5 Star ratings behind, there isn't any way to convey an "attaboy" or "attagirl" for a particular noteworthy post other than initiating another post. In some cases, we may have a dozen or so folks weighing in to voice approval without really adding to the content. I hesitate in doing this even though I would like to let the originator know that I appreciated his post.
Is there anyway that we can modify the site to allow for a recommendation to be registered; perhaps a recommended box that can be checked? That could cut down on superfluous posts and yet if one felt so moved, allow them to add to the discussion.
The old 5-star system was both good and bad but at times resulted in hard feelings. With a simple system to allow recommendations, I think we could show encouragement without undue verbosity and also avoid confrontation. JMO |
