McChord not accepting sign up is not a problem with the message board so please use the following thread to continue comments and discussion.

I and a few others signed up at McChord in early October using takeahop.org and some were in the register when we checked, I was not and I got out my signup sheet and they logged me into the system with no problems. My wife and I took a 10 day trip to Hawaii around the middle of November and we didn't have any problems.

I am trying to figure out "what all this (material posted below) really means!" Are we or are we NOT supposed to use this private site usafspacea.com ? Has there been an official statement by the McChord PAX terminal that their policy has changed, or is the word of one PAX rep what the policy really is? Yeah, yeah, I know, we are "at their mercy." But some of them (only a very few) seem to be on an ego trip. Please don't misunderstand me. . . all I want is "good info.," not to cuss anyone out. I'll repeat my question, and hopefully someone has an answer: "Has there been an official written statement from the McChord Pax terminal defining the "new rule"?

Thanks all for your input, you are right the usaf spacea site IS privately operated, I did not even check till after reading your notes. The airman in charge at McChord the day we arrived said he had worked in the McChord terminal for two years so we figured he knew what was so. He at first refused my print out and said it had not gotten into their system but finally said that since he was not busy he would "redo" it and accept it but never again! It would have been awful to have been knocked down to number one on the sign up sheets after being signed up nearly 30 days. Thanks for your notes.

The site referred to is a private site.We are not aware of any sanction or recommendation by USTRANSCOM/AMC that it be used as the sole communications means for spacea sign up.There has been some problem in the past about reports that Take-a-Hop sign ups were not being accepted at some locations. Until AMC directs that site be the only one used,it seems to be a local suggestion by McChord.

Hi all,
I just looked at http://usafspacea.com

I note at the very top it says "This private site is not funded by the United States Air Force."

Some pertinent parts of the site states
Quote
USAFSpaceA.com is a privately owned website that offers free, convenient online registration for qualified Space-A travelers.
(continuing)
Space-A is managed by the US Air Force's Air Mobility Command at Scott AFB, Illinois. We do our best to update this site with the latest government regulations. The information you'll find here, comes straight from the AMC source.
UNQUOTE

The right hand side lists about 35 available on-line application locations. Most are Air Force, but a few are Navy. I noted that Lackland/Kelly is NOT one of the sites.

Wonder where this really puts the email signup methods that are up to now being used?

Ciao/Wanda

Hi John,

We were just at McChord to sign up for a flight and to make a long story very, short were told that McChord will no longer accept any sign-ups that do not go through the official sign up site which is

< usafspacea.com >

they say it is the only one which meets AMC online requirements, so we thought we better notify you so that you can send out the message. (you may first wish check with McChord to see if we understood correctly.)

According to them the sign-ups originating from the Pepperd site do not reach them????? And our print out which we showed them is not "official" because there is no 'from' or 'reply to' entered to prove it is real.
