Cherry, simple, but it takes a few minutes (took me about 5 minutes for Tony's). I start by 1. Cut-n-paste half of the text. 2. Preview/Post the message. 3. If you don't get an error then the "problem" text is in the other half. 4. Repeat #1 and #2 until you get down to a paragraph, sentence, word/phrase. 5. Once you find the problem then eliminate it and try to re-word/phrase the text. |

John D., I am one who also has from time to time received the dreaded error message, so I am eager to learn how you figure out which word is doing the "offending." Could you please give us some hints as to procedure? (I HOPE it doesn't involve going through the entire text, removing one word at a time and then trying again to post the entry?!?) |

Thanks for posting the report, I was about to give up. I still don't understand the part that deals with "offending words", but I guess that's the way it is. Happy travels! |

Tony, Your report is posted. I tried my "trick" from the last time and the offending word/text was "selection." in the second paragraph. I replaced "selection," with "seats" and hey presto! Can't explain it folks - that just the way it is. |

Tony, The emails got rejected because neither are valid - the second one isn't valid but if you replace the "at" with "@" (drop the quotation marks) then the first one will work (or just reply to the email I just sent you). I use the "at" to reduce web crawling spammers (maybe it works and maybe it doesn't). All emails need an "@" symbol (drop the quotation marks) in the address. |

John D., Last night I sent the Trip Report text to: spacea at spacea.net and also to johnd@spacea.net and both emails were returned. Is there another email that could you provide where I can send the report? Thanks. |

Tony, What problem are you having sending me the text or file? You shouldn't be getting any errors (assuming you are using my valid email address - spacea at spacea.net) |

I tried everything I could today, copy and pasting, etc., to no avail. I even tried sending the file to John D., and kept getting the same error message. Apparently, it has to do with an Internal Server Error or misconfiguration. Indicates to contact the Webmaster Administrator, which I've been doing and seems that nothing works. So I give up and guess won't post my Trip Report after all. I'll email the report to those retirees whom I have email addresses for. Thanks all for your help and happy travels! |

Cherry, I lied - the specific word was "from." See http://www.pepperd.com/cgi-bin/spacea/show.cgi?tpc=1540&post=195573#POST195573 |

The specific word didn't matter (I think it was "comment" - and I posted my observation here somewhere) as I (and others) had used it successfully in other messages. All I know is when the specific word was removed from that particular post I was able to cut and paste it successfully. |

John, can you remember what was the 'offensive' word in your attempted post? If it turns out to be the same as in Tony's trip report, please let all of us know so we can avoid it in the future and thus avoid the immense frustration caused by repeatedly getting that error message! |

Tony, I (and others) have had the same problem in the Trip Report and other forums and it has been discussed numerous times. One time I found it to be just one word that I removed and it worked - I discovered it by cut-n-pasting a portion of the report until I found the offending word (the word was fine in other posts but for some reason caused a problem). If you send me your file I'll try to post it for you. |

Dirk/John D: I just tried posting it from my laptop and encountered the same problem. I am not pasting the info from another program (ie: Word), I am typing it directly to where you post your messages and keep getting the same message. I tried answering a post from another forum to see if there was a problem, but apparently NO, it went through well. So apparently the problem is with the Trip Report Forum. |

Tony, Are you writing it in another program (MS Word?) then copying and pasting it into the board? As John mentioned it doesn't work if text is formatted in Word then brought in. |

Tony, Can't tell you what's wrong - it's an unexplained board "feature" of the current message board software. My own opinion is that there is some hidden character or formatting that causes the errors - can't explain it. If you send me your file I'll try to post it for you. |

I have written a three-page trip report twice this afternoon and each time I'm ready to post it, I get an error message from the system. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I've spent most of the afternoon trying to get this out to NO avail. Please help! |
