I had/have problems getting registered in the "new forum":

During the registering process the registration form asks for a referral name. I used my own handle and it didn't like that. On my second try, I just left that block blank and was successful.

I got the welcome email from Dirk asking for a onetime verification. This is where I again ran into problems.

On the first try, I just clicked on the verifying URL link, and immediately got an error message.

Next I tried typing the the alternate URL address in the browser address box, and got the following comeback:

"Error - Not acceptable
An appropriate representatiion of the requested resourse.....could not be found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered...."

OK, I give up at this point. FYI, I responded to the email using "MSN Explorer" (the butterfly icon) as my browser. Could it be that your new software isn't compatible with MSN Explorer?
