Jessica, You are obviously in the Northeast, check out NAS/JRB Willow Grove,PA in the flight scheds of this site. They fly to North Island NAS on a semi reg basis. In fact, one went there today. Good luck! Ed K, Upstate NY |

There is a plane which leaves McGuire or Dover every Saturday morning going to March. The plane leave Ramstein, lands at McGuire or Dover and continue on to March. There is a plane which leave March on Thurday and Friday going to a east coast base. Look at the Flight schedule for March and you will see the bases it flies to. Happy Travels. |

Jessica - Thanks for the additional information. I was kind of wondering where your six year was going to stay since he wasn't returning with your husband. It sounds like your husband is going to do house hunting without you. I have send my husband on a space-a trip to do that too. |

Jessica: Last month my husband and I caught a flight from McGuire to March AFB,Riverside,Ca. It left about 11AM on Sat and arrived at March about 2PM. The March crew said they make this flight often and always have seats. If your husband's superivsor is flexible and your husband is flexible in when he's leaving this might work for you. He has to be on some type of leave before he can sign up,but doing it the day of departure for this flight shouldn't be a problem. March is about the closest he can get to LA. No sense in worrying about getting back to N.J. until he get's here. You need to watch the McGuire and Dover schedules to see if there appears to be a pattern of flights to Ca and then when you want one maybe, just maybe, it will be available. We live in Vista about ten miles from Camp Pendleton. |

Hi,we only have 10 days house hunting leave so my husband was planning on taking my 6 year old back to Cali to my grandparent's home. They live in Los Angeles. We will be station in Camp Pendleton and we are planning to do base housing. We are planning to do a road trip with our other two boys so my husband needs a round trip (just for him). I will be staying in NJ with my other two boys during the 10 days. We have never use Space A and reading blogs I came across the info. He can do any Southern California base for arrival that won't be a problem. Dover is about 2 hours away so no problem either for the departure we are like 30 minutes away from McGuire AFB too. |

Jessica, If you are all planning to accompany your husband on house-hunting (Permissive TDY) then only one eligible dependent is allowed to travel (unless there was a recent change). For you all to travel he'd need to take regulator leave. |

Can you be a bit more specific about where your husband will be stationed in California? There are several possibilities for flights: Point Mugu (Oxnard / Ventura), March ARB (Riverside), North Island (San Diego) and even Miramar (east of San Diego). If San Diego is the area, then let me suggest that you check the North Island web site: https://cnic.navy.mil/cnrsw/Programs/Operations/AirOperations/SpaceAFlights/inde x.htm Click on the "Scheduled Arrivals" link, and you'll see where flights are originating. Also, there are flights between Dover and March perhaps once per week. |

Greetings, Jessica: I apologize for being unable to offer any meaningful Space-A suggestions for the travel you've proposed, but I did want to make a quick recommendation on your house-hunting efforts. If you are not already familiar with it, you should take the time to register on the Automated Housing Referral Network at www.ahrn.com. It is a website specifically geared towards the military community and it offers a comprehensive database of off-base housing options all over the United States. It's not the only website out there that offers housing listings, but I have found it to be the single best one out there for military families. Craigslist is okay, too...but you should definitely get on AHRN in advance of your trip out there and take a look at all the properties that might suit your needs. It's a great resource and, if nothing else, gives you an excellent place to start your house-hunting. |

Need Advice on New Jersey to South California between June 14-20 round trip. My husband, two more kids and I are doing a road trip but my 6 year old is in a wheelchair so we want him to get to Cali faster. Sponsor round trip and 1 child (6 years old) one way. My husband has 10 days leave for house hunting 14-24. |
