I followed this thread with interest and found the advice pretty near foolproof. After a week of quiet, I was wondering "Did she ever return?" Or is her fate still unlearned? I guess we'll never know but it reminded me of a similar situation that I heard about just about the time I "jined" the Navy.

Nicole can fly space A from Ramstein to Mildenhall as a Cat 5. We all wish her luck in getting back to Mildenhall. Happy Travels.

As a Cat V can Nicole fly Ramstein to Mildenhall or would she have to go commercial?

I should have added that it is a short drive from Dover to McGuire, and you can drop off a Hertz rental car at McGuire AFB.

Nicole, The flight to Mildenhall from McGuire is still on the schedule for today. They also have another one scheduled for Wednesday. To speak to a Passenger Service Rep, dial direct 609-754-5023 or DSN 650-5023.

Crystal Ball shows a lot of flights from Dover to points in Germany. Take one and backtrack to Mildenhall using Ryan or another.

Hi everyone,

Well....we've camped out at the Dover terminal for now. As someone else stated, being Cat V, we are ineligible to fly Conus to Conus unless it is part of a conus to oconus mission. I was heartbroken when everyone here headed out on a flight to Charleston last night, there were still plenty of seats available BUT we weren't allowed. So, my only hope right now is that something opens up from Dover to Europe. If nothing happens in the next day or two, I'll head back to VA and regroup! :-)

Thanks!
Nicole

Nicole: Looks like you are in luck. Reading the Last Category Section indicate the Charleston terminal no longer has a waiting list for Ramstein. You should have no problem getting a flight from Charleston into Ramstein and from Ramstein into Mildenhall. A lot of flights from Ramstein to Mildenhall are not posted on the Ramstein schedule but do pop up. Happy Travels.

OKay folks, the way I see it, Nicole is on the East Coast. She isn't active duty that I can see, so she Can't fly to other places as far as I know. So getting to MacDill, unless going by a bought ticket, is out, same to McConnell and Fairchild.

Nicole best chance is like Cherry said, get to Germany if nothing heading to Mildenhall. Good Luck, want me to cut the grass while you are gone?

Nicole - It's the wrong coast...but there is a flight tomorrow afternoon nonstop to Mildenhall out of Fairchild AFB near Spokane, Washington. It's a tanker flight. Ten seats firm. My wife and I took it a few months ago. Hardly anyone knows about it or uses it. May be too late. But if your still stuck by late week, there is usually the same flight each Monday. Best wishes.

Nicole: The flight is not yet posted on PepperD but it is on the Scott recording - that is what I meant by "showing"..... You can call Scott and see if they can give you any more info......

Nicole: Scott AFB is showing a flight to Mildenhall on 4/28 on a large type aircraft departing at 1600. If you can get to Andrews you can probably get to Scott in order to get on that flight!
Good Luck!

McConnell (Witchita, KS) and MacDill (Tampa, FL) each have regular flights to Mildenhall although not awfully frequently (every week or two???).

Since you're now on the east coast, MacDill might be easier for you to get to? Andrews occasionally has flights to there. However, since you are able to stay with family in Virginia until seats open up, you probably are wise not to commit to a far away base such as McConnell or MacDill where waiting could be very expensive.

Can you find out if Ramstein is resuming their flights to Mildenhall? (Perhaps your husband could call them via DSN?) Some are on the 30-lb-limit aircraft, but others are on larger ones. (And possibly if you are over the 30 lb.limit per person, you could mail the extras to yourself?) You could get to Germany from some of the nearby east coast terminals (with relatives taking you to the terminal and waiting until it's sure you're going), and then fly to England via space-a, OR a commercial carrier, OR take surface transportation.

Hi everyone, I appreciate your input and help. I have been calling all of the terminals and it is just not looking pretty. None of the flights going overseas have been releasing seats and from what I'm being told, when they do, there are quite a few active duty guys waiting to jump on them.

If you hear of anything, please let me know.

Many blessings,
Nicole

This is the only thing I’ve seen so far this morning. Looks like it may have slipped again.
McGuire AFB, NJ (WRI)... Monday 4/26 - BGR Bangor ANGB, Bangor, ME > MHZ RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom.
Hopefully by now you are calling all the East Coast bases and talking directly to the PAX reps. Good luck.

Mildenhall had its first plane land last night that wasn't originating from Mildenhall. Saw it fly over our house around 20:00. Maybe something will be leaving soon other than Mildenhall tanker flights.

You might also want to ask him if it originates at McGuire or if it is coming from another base. The only other one I see on the board at this time is leaving from MacDill: Destination--Show--Seats
23 Apr 2010:
Mildenhall(MHZ) LPM 10
MCF Recording 813-828-2310
There may be something else show up when the folks on the East Coast post their schedules in the morning.

Nicole, I just called McGuire AFB to see if by chance the flight that was scheduled for today(Fiday) had slipped for some reason. This could be your lucky day --it did in fact slip 24 hrs. PAX rep at McGuire just told me that it was now on the schedule for Saturday at EPM. Call them at 609-754-5023 for an update on the time. They are open 24 hours. He did not know about seats at this time. Good luck.

My 3 children and I "hopped" home to the US for a family emergency the day before the volcano erupted. While we were here, there was an unexpected death in the family so we stayed a few days longer than originally planned. Now, I am hoping to get a flight back to the UK and it is not looking very promising. We have a rental car from Dover so I'd love to be able to fly out from there but if something else comes available heading into the UK, I'd take it in a heart beat. Does anyone have any suggestions? My family is in Virginia so I could leave from anywhere along the East Coast really. I just really need to get back! :-) This has been one exhausting and draining trip!

Thanks for any advice you can give me!
Nicole
