Worked OK for me with Open Office also. I will not buy Microsoft's Power Point and Office. Open Office is free and works just fine

What did you try to open it with? It certainly opened in OpenOffice with no trouble.

Well, I tried to read Typhoon Tom's report but could not. So please enlighten me as to how you can read it without difficulty. This was the report that was downloaded and my computer could not open the file.

Tom,

Dirk has already provided a site to post trip reports with pics - nobody seemed to want to use it. The way you posted yours was just fine - a great report with pics all in one part/place.

This site does not allow trip reports larger than a certain size (can't remember what it is off hand) so that's why people (like me) have to post a link and have you read it there. It's not difficult at all.

I would suggest having the campacity of this board increased so that people can post trip reports with embedded pictures rather than just plain text. Just my JPY002 worth (that's 2 Yen).

All the recent trip reports opened for me with no trouble. And I liked them. My complaints are reserved for those that are posted on sites that require me to register. Handing over my name and email address, and requiring me to add yet another user name and password to my already bulging (paper) notebook. Sorry, won't do that.

OK, let me clarify the situation. The posters in question posted that their space a reports would be available and gave links to other sites where they had their space a reports. With one such link you had to have Microsoft Office to open it(I don't) and read it and I even downloaded a so-called software that would allow me to do so without office. Didn't work. The other required that I download their report to my computer, a drop down menu appeared and the report was named and I clicked on "open" but then my computer told me that it did not have a program associated with this file and could not open and did I want to search the web for a program. Now if my stupid computer doesn't know how to open a file, I sure to heck don't.

Now these posters might be computer geniuses but I am not. All I am asking is that they be posted to the space-a reports or they at least check out their links and see if they work.

Haven't found the one where I have to jump through a hoop but Craig Hullinger's report is a great example of what can be done off-site, with embedded photos and very easy on the eyes. Photo and document-sharing websites abound; if you have to register with the site to access the photos it usually only takes a few minutes one time and most browsers offer an automatic log-in feature (or get Roboform).

Hat's off to Craig: I am way more likely to read a report like that than some that I see posted in plain text in the Trip Reports forum.

Sounds like rather than using the magnifying glass search link above the google search link to the right of the page was used. The magnifying glass search link searches pepperd.com site and no other. That is the search that should be used for Trip reports filed here.

James,
That is not the way the system should work, and I am sorry that was the experience you had.I suggest for increased attention that your situation should be posted in the "Problems with the spacea message board" to be addressed by the administrator.

Yes, and both of these reports were NOT posted to the Space A Reports but rather referred you to some other cockamamie site.

The past couple of weeks I have not been able to read two space A reports because they were on some cockamamie other site you had to download, up load, double clutch and shift five times and then still not be able to get them to read.

Very frustrating. Wish folks would post to the space A reports on the board rather than putting us through a mess and still not be able to read them.
