You must get your passports stamped with a reentry stamp before you leave. Also if the pat ex is full and you are looking for more flights, call Atsugi. It's a hidden gem. Not many flights directly to CONUS but plenty to Kadena (if you're having trouble getting out of Yokota, Kadena is a great option) and a few to Elmendorf.

Your best bet to sign up for any space a is to use the website. That way you can do it the moment your hubs leave starts.

Krystan,

I don't know if your command/unit uses different paperwork to authorised unaccompanied dependent EML. If your paperwork shows that you are authorised to travel as an EML Cat-IV unaccompanied dependent then it should be fine.

Thank you for your help and support, John. My husband went to the terminal here at Yokota today, and was told that our best bet is the flight tomorrow to Seattle on the Patriot I believe especially since we will be Cat II. Now, I am confused about the EML paperwork. As you said, I need unaccompanied EML paperwork for the flight back, but everyone else is telling my husband that I just use the regular EML paperwork. Is there a different form for accompanied and unaccompanied EML? If we are trying to get on the flight tomorrow, my husband's leave starts tomorrow, do we just e-mail at midnight to get our names in since they close at 2200 or call at 0400 when they open again? I have also read on another post about getting a passport stamped-does that apply to us as well? Thank you again for your asistance with all these random questions!

Krystan,

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

A person can't signup for Space-A until authorized so your husband has to wait until he is on leave. So, the only thing you can do now is plan for the trip.

Make sure you have the correct authorization (unaccompanied EML) to return and as soon as you have that authorization you can signup for your return without your sponsor.

This website has been very helpful, but I am unsure if I have all the information right. We are still waiting for our paperwork to go through, but we are trying to get on the soonest flight out. My grandmother is very sick, and we have only just decided to try and make it home. Everyone has told my husband(sponsor) to put in EML paperwork, so that is still sitting on the commanders desk. My husband plans on travelling to Florida, spend a week there, and I will return with our two small children a few weeks later. I have been reading over and over again to sign up early, but can we do anything before we get the EML paperwork back? Also, can we sign up for anything before my husband actually goes on leave? I do not want him to waste a lot of leave simply sitting around the house waiting for a flight, are there any other options? If we do need to wait for the paperwork to actually do anything, can we go ahead and put our names down for the return trip or do we have to wait til we are in Seattle or Travis or where ever we end up before we do that? By the way, we are planning on trying to fly into Seattle or Travis then go commercial the rest of the way, and do the same on the return trip. With such short notice, I am trying to get as much info as possible since this will be our 1st Space A trip, and we are travelling with a 2 1/2 yo and 11 month old. Thanks so much!
