Pope AFB in Fayetteville, NC, which is just a little over an hour from Seymour Johnson, has occasional flights to Travis. Pax Svc nr. is 910-394-6527.

Actually, SJ did have a flight to Travis, then on to Hickam, late last month. I know because my wife and I caught it back from Travis to SJ on May 1. I was told they only happen infrequently, though.

I just checked with SJ and you are correct John.

The fax for space A requests is: 919-722-4169
I also checked and they no longer have any email address for SPAT.

Roger, is spacea@seymourjohnson.af.mil no longer valid for signup? Also the fax I had was (919) 722-4169 so I presume the fax number changed as well? Thanks!

Ashley, You might try calling MCAS Cherry Point in Havelock, NC(252.466.2379). I have flown into CP from Travis and out of CP to the west coast several times. They don't have a lot west coast flights , but on monday morning they will give you the weeks schedule. TOM

Seymour may have a flight to Andrews-Travis later this month. You can call them. I do not have the number we pick our schedule at the base.

I'm category IV my husband will be deployed over 120 days and I'm trying to figure out what to do and figure out my plan b if I can't fly out of my first choices. I'm about an hour away from seymour afb. That's why I was trying to go there but sounds like charleston is the one. Thank you cherry I appreciate it I'm new to space a so just trying to research as much as I can.

If you are in Goldsboro, NC, you are almost equi-distant from Charleston AFB (to the south) and Andrews AFB (to the north). Andrews has flights to Travis several times a week, particularly the medevacs that usually leave on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings. The Monday flights are historically the easiest for SPATs to get on (combination of aircraft size AND number of would-be space-a travelers trying)but there are no guarantees as we all know.

If you also plan to return from Travis, there are flights from there to Charleston as well as Andrews (the continuation of the 3x weekly medevac may be via Miramar and/or other bases in California and then to Andrews) and also frequent flights from Charleston back to Andrews. (We have returned via Charleston from the west coast to Andrews [because our car was there] several times, often having to wait only a few hours for a flight headed to Andrews.)

Ashley, what is your space-a category?

(ALL -- It would be helpful if EVERYONE added that important piece of information to his or her profile on the board... I think it may be THE most asked question here! ;-D
