Jack, I totally agree with you about having the Regs at the counter or readily available. Learning from the customer is part of "OJT- on the job training."

John G,

What John D. says in his last line is the gospel.... (as well as others below him)

Even if u don't have your final destination annotated, that sign up date holds..... providing u can get someone to read the AMCI or stick it in their face....

After having a 'discussion' with two civilian PAX Reps at Hickam, and having them have to call out their supv who confirmed my side of the story, I brought in my copy of the disputed reg and the guy at the desk asked if he could photo copy it....

It is sometimes sad that the customer has to teach the teacher so to speak...

Why every PAX desk doesn't have that reg laying underneath the counter ceases to amaze me...

John G.,

As others have stated you can keep your original signup date/time group when transiting a location as long as you ensured your "final destination is documented on your boarding pass. That way, you don't have to signup everywhere.

The mother reference is the DoD reg and the language in the AMCI (para 11.8) changed in the last revision to read:

"11.8. Passengers shall retain their original date/time of sign-up from the point of origin to the final destination, provided they are continuing to geographically move to their declared final destination. Ensure the passenger's final destination is annotated on the boarding pass."

Have the folks that are telling you differently to read the AMCI.

Thanks all. I have told the PAX rep what my final destination at all locations. However like I said they keep telling me that when the mission ends my signup ends. Fortunately I have signed up at all locations that I have a possibilty of flying out of. I will take this info to the desk this morning and see what they have to say. Again thanks.

So I remember to ask/verify "final destination", I've inserted an old bording pass in my Worldwide SpaceA-Travel book next to my resevation printout for when I am checking in "present for travel". Highlighted on the bording pass is "Final Destination".

As to "Final destination"...see John D's FAQs:

I also carry a list of Five Air Mobility Command Instructions (AMCI) references to make SPAT-ing easier (if passenger service agent is still learning the rules):

Source: Air Mobility Command Instruction 24-101 Vol 14

Boarding pass to show Final Destination:

Paragraph 11.10 that states: “Passengers will retain their original date/time of sign-up from the point of origin to the final destination, provided they are continuing to move to their declared final destination. Ensure the passenger's final destination is annotated on the boarding pass.”

hope this helps.

John G., was there a "final destination" printed on your original boarding pass? If so, AMC should have honored your original signup time and date at the base where you originally boarded, but that does not guarantee you an ongoing seat (that is, it is not the same as being manifested through because when the mission munber changes that's the end of your original authorization) -- it merely means that time/date is used to put you in the proper priority position when you must compete at downline bases.

It's very easy to forget to ask to have that final destination put on your original boarding pass -- I neglect to do it about 50% of the time! AMC personnel SHOULD ask, but few do.

John--

This is where that 'final destination' thing comes into play.

If you claim that point D is your 'final destination' while at point A and they put it on your boarding pass, then supposedly your original signup date at point A 'follows' you to point D.

This doesn't work if you just decide to go somewhere new at point B or C.

Also, only about half the pax reps understand and do this, so you will have trouble at either point B or C before you get to D, even if you have a 'final destination' on your boarding pass.

Are you stuck at Andrews?

I don't know the reg, but they are right. When you get off that mission and then want to go onward, you have to compete again.

Just sign up at all "points" in which you wish to transit, at the same time as the "origination" sign up, and you should have no problem.

Could someone please tell me the AMC reg that refers to CAT 6 being able to keep the same sign up date when traveling from point A to point B and onto point C and then D. I have been traveling from OCUNUS and trying to get to point D in the states. At two different locations I have been told that once I get off the aircraft and the mission number changes I need a sign up for that particular location and the PAX reps will not honor the original signup date from point A. I have stayed at the same locations as in starting at point A and going to point B. Then wanting to travel from point B to point C, without changing terminals and then the same from point C onto final destination point D.
Thanks for all/any help.
