The only aircraft that the Navy has stopped flying to HI is the C9 everything else is still the same. It started about 2 weeks ago. |

thanks John D.! I read all those pages and they were very helpful I just wanted to hear from other people too. Appreciate it. I really think the Navy not flying to Hawaii is a rumor thing. Too many flights with available seatings. |

As I originally wrote, I do not know if there IS such a new change in Navy policy -- but I do know I fairly recently read some comments to that effect on this site. There were follow-up questions asking for someone to give definitive info, and no such appeared as far as I recall, so it may just be "one of those rumors." However, I thought I should mention it... Unfortunately now I don't find the thread! |

Marple, Hopefully you have found the Space-A FAQ and the other helpful info available at www.spacea.net Your Social Security Number" question is answered here. Also, the 45-day signup duration is outlined on the Spacea.net North Island Wiki Page. Similar info is available for many other locations and knowing where to locate that info when you are traveling will be a great resource. |

Cherry, when did this change start? We flew out and back with Fort Worth for the BFB in January? |

I've been monitoring the NI flights they seem to have a lot leaving for Hawaii with seats available so I'll be shocked if they don't allow it anymore. I'm preparing for the worst though, thankfully I have some friends out that way - one of whome works on NAS North Island and another stationed at Miramar. Thanks for all the help I'm sure I'll be back for more Thanks for the reminder about Hickam and K-Bay! My husband used to fly w/ a C-20 over there so he'd be disappointed if I forgot to sign up with K-Bay lol |

Other than the comments made on that thread in this forum,I have not seen any cited directive or USN advisory confirming this restriction. Perhaps someone has and can clarify. |

Marple: It's been my experience that when the inevitable occurs (e.g., cancelled/delayed/re-routed flights, denied boarding, etc.), spouses traveling alone are much better able to cope than unaccompanied moms with kids in tow. Even though you're a fledgling solo space-a traveler, with good contingency planning, a modicum of patience/frustration tolerance, and sufficient financial resources (to cover unanticipaed meals, lodging and transportation costs), you should do fine. BTW, be sure to sign-up at both Hickam AFB, and Kaneohe MCAS for your return to the mainland. Good luck! |

There's been another thread on this board concerning the possibility that the Navy has recently implemented a new policy that does not allow space-a travelers on flights between the mainland to Hawaii (perhaps for safety because so many of the aircraft used have only 2 engines?). Has this been explored and/or verified? |

Hi, Marple, i wish you good luck on getting a flight as soon as you are ready to travel. Unless you happen to hit a drought in flights from N.I. I doubt that you will experience intense competition for a seat. I have never tried a Hawaii flight from there but have flown back east from there several times and made every flight I tried for as Cat VI with 0 days sign-up. Travis is another story entirely. Use Rob G's "Space A Signup" link at the top of this page and put your social security number in the following format (XXX-XX-1234) with "1234" being you actual last 4. Sign up at NI 45 days from the last day you will travel. 60 days for Air Force Bases. Sign up at the bases for which you wish to return home after the number of days you wish to stay in Hawaii has passed. If you are staying in Hawaii for 7 days. Sign up at the return bases 7 days after you sign up at the departing bases. Good luck. |

I think the Navy requires a SS# for signup but the AF does not. I believe your signup for the Navy is good for 45 days, 60 days with the AF. Did you check the space a pages for the info? |

I'm hoping to go to Hawaii this summer. I have a letter from my husband's command stating that he is deployed for more than 120 days. I want to fly out of North Island; should I 'sign up' 45 days from the last day I'm willing to travel or sign up 45 days from the first day I am and just continue signing up? I think I have all this down, but I just want to make sure bc I'm not 100% comfortable with it yet. Little nervous. Also, if I use the space-A sign up do I HAVE to put my social? I know tons of questions I just feel better hearing it from experienced folk |
