Been a long time since I was on active duty. Back in the day there were only 4 catagory's of Space a Travel with 4 covering retirees. Didn't have things like EML even available to most dependents. They could travel space a but only with there sponsor and unless they were very lucky to catch a flight that was continuing on with the same mission number could not travel past the first entry point in the states.   Paul B. Your spouse will have to accompany you in an ordinary leave status. If your stationed overseas different rules do apply but that dosen't appear to be the case here. Dependents with a family emergency and stationed (Command Sponsored) overseas are authorized priorty 1 space A to the states and Priorty 3 on the return to the overseas duty station but unfortunately it dosen't work in reverse. If you are stationed CONUS, and need to get OCONUS, a dependent can fly space-a unaccompanied. If stationed OCONUS and need to get to CONUS, the military may pay for a commercial flight. These are the two situations I am aware of, but I am sure there are others.   Cherry C. I called one base and they said they would do it, but I have to change flights and the other base said no. I think it is done base by base or maybe the person I spoke with was just trying to help me out. I emailed my brother in AF and he said he will pay for a commercial flight and rental car to take care of our mother. I will travel with my husband (after special permission) if needed but would rather not due to my children are in school and my mother cannot be around children because of the disease she has and her immune system. The chance of infection is higher around children. We are low on money and so much is going on right now that I am just trying to sort through my options to see what is best. Thank you all so much!
