Jayme: Since you plan to travel sans husband with kids (hopefully no toddlers!), I hope that you have solid contingency plans in the event that your hoped-for flights get cancelled or delayed, or you are denied boarding due to mission changes. Such are the realities of space-a travel. Aggravating and frustrating for all of us, but a potential nightmare for unprepared unaccompanied moms with kids! |

I would attempt to catch a flight from North Island to Hickam and onward to Kadena. There are flights on a regular basis from Hickam to Anderson and onward to Kadena. I would not go back tgo TGravis if I can get out of North Island. Happy Travels. |

You probably would have your best chance from Travis to Elmendorf, AK to Kadena for your return. If you are AD you will have a better chance than a lower Cat at this time of year. |

I'm currently in California. I landed here about a week ago, however, they way I was 'ROUTED' here was from Kadena, AFB to Yokota. From Yokota to E' something which is the AFB in Alaska. From Alaska to Travis AFB, which is in San Francisco. So from Travis, I just had family members pick me up and take me to San Diego. Now i'm just trying to figure out how I'm suppose to get back. |

Don't forget Kaneohe Bay MCAS -- you'll probably see as many (or more) flights between there and NI as between Hickam and NI. |

I've read what threads I think apply, but I was hoping you all could help clarify for me I'm hoping to make it from Kadena to California. Ideally, I'd like to come into either North Island or March AFB since my husband's family is in San Diego County. I've already got my EML orders (Cat IV) and I'm signed up at Kadena, and they faxed my information onto Hickam and Elmendorf (I hope I spelled that right...). I asked them to fax it to Anderson as well for sign up, but it wouldn't go through. I won't be traveling with my husband (just the kids, fun I know), so I know once I hit the states I know I'm essentially grounded. I gave myself 3 weeks to make it stateside (I'm hoping that will be enough). Would the best route if I want to go to NI or March be through Hickam? From what I read it looks like there's flights between Hickam and NI often, I'd just like to make sure I'm right on this. And of course any other ideas would be welcome. I think I'm about as ready as I can be at this point, but I'm still not sure where I can make it into. Previously we've only hopped Japan, which was a bit easier for us to find out about and a bit less intimidating if we got stuck anywhere. I always knew I only had to make it back to Yokota to get home! |
