I contacted ANG ops at BTL. They indicate no contact or passengers getting on / off the Willow Grove flights at the ANG ramp. Contact with the ATCT indicates that Duncan has the military fueling contracts and that military planes occasionally park over night at the Duncan ramp. The Duncan flight desk said long term parking is in a gravel lot which I see is located at about Lat / Long 42deg 18' 04" N, 85deg 15' 11" W; and their flight desk is at Lat / Long 42deg 18' 15" N, 85deg 15' 17.9" W. Looking at the Willow Grove posted flight schedule I surmise that most flights shown to BTL are tentative and perhaps most do not occur because as they move up to the actual date in the schedule, the BTL flight disappears off the schedule. I estimate catching a flight at BTL is a slim possibility. Perhaps there is a contact at Willow Grove to help determine when a tentative is near the actual date to confirm the flight. |

James, Yes but I haven't called out there in quite some time. Base Ops at Selfridge just doesn't keep a handle on the 171st flights very well that is why they give out there own Space-A number to call. I really should check it out more often. I see them coming back to Selfridge all the time from some great places world wide. |

Try the 171st Space-A line (586) 239-2606. It has a LONG ring time so hang in there! This unit is co-located to MacDill. They also fly world wide but not to often. MTC also has a Base Ops line at (586) 239-5884 Good Luck, I usually drive to Wright-Pat (3hrs). |

I am a Michigander living in FL, and have never seen any opportunity to fly to Mich from anywhere down here. Anyone know of any opportunities to go space a to Mich from the South? I have lots of relatives in Grand Rapids. JC |

Dave N- I will stop at KBTL in the next two months to see where the WG pilots enter Duncan and where I may park my car for several weeks. Thanks for the ANG update. Its been many years since I designed the layout for RWY 23 approach lights and visited the FIFO office at BTL. I see you worked at Prestwick; the Souda Bay (CHQ) flight schedule shows a stop there. |

For Bob Radar: I have not had any contact with the Duncan FBO. Battle Creek airport is actually a joint function. There is a Michigan ANG base as well as a commercial airport. There is no scheduled air service though. They use the same runways but that is about it. The ANG base is where I have been trying to get information about since they recently have obtained some C-21 type aircraft which could open up some opportunities for Space A travel. I have no idea why the Navy would use Duncan but its probably because of convience. Prior to your comment I didn't even know they handled military aircraft. Always assumed they would use the ANG base but apparently not. For people in this area the base is available for things like ID cards etc and has a small BX but not a lot else. If I am in the area when one of the navy aircraft arrives though I will see if I can contact them about possibilities. We don't often see military aircraft arriving here so the Willow Grove schedules were a surprise. I would imagine it would be like any other FBO where if you have the proper ID and possibly a manifest prepared they would provide seats if available. |

Dave N- I see 2 flights in NXX schedule early next week to BTL. If you are at Duncan FBO; I'm curious to learn what the Willow Grove crew says for SpaceA at BTL. It looks like todays flight to BTL didn't go. |

See Willow Grove(NXX) flight schedule post for 2 seats on 14 May; and scroll to bottom to see the 40 lb limit. I searched KBTL to find http://www.acukwik.com/AirportInfo/KBTL - -where I scrolled down to see 'FBO' -> Duncan telephone number and verified that they serve C-21. See John Ds -> FAQues 6.3 - - The local FBO at PWK verified with some pilots that landed from Willow Grove that SpaceA is a possibility; which I plan to try in the future. I see the McGuire schedule usually has several flights per week to McChord. |

I live in Battle Creek and snd ask at least once a month about Space A opportunities. So far the ops people are not offering anything from here. They do have there C21's in place but so far no info is available on schedules etc. When and if the time comes I will offer my services as a poster with the boards permission but so far there isn't much to provide. I would check with Selfridge though. The numbers are provided on the location pages and you never know. I have seen flights posted to there from several places and they have to start out somewhere. |

If you aiming for McChord, you had better drive to Scott. It will improve your odds of finding a flight. |

I guess Wright-Pat Dayton OH is the closest AFB. I see about 2 flights per month on the Willow Grove (NXX) flight schedule post for Selfridge ANGB at Mt Clemens. See todays (NXX) schedule and FAQues 6.3 for perhaps boarding at Battle Creek. From NXX it is about a 2 hour drive to McGuire where Hertz has a key drop box in the PAX terminal. I guess McGuire or Dover have flights to McCord. Within the past 2 months the car rental info for NXX was given on Pepperd. |
