I must say that I just feel bad for the passenger. Likely she was PCSing alone. When we moved to Naples from Hawaii we had 8 seabags, 2 carryons, 2 diaper bags, 2 car seats, a double stroller, and 2 kids. I was blessed that time to have my DH with me. I've done it alone with 2 kids, 2 car seats, 1 seabag, 1 carryon, and 1 diaper bag and could barely manage. |

AD member would be allowed 3 bags up to 100 lbs each, the dependents 2 bags each of 70 lbs possibly greater, and then the car seat and stroller, so that could easily come close to 700 lbs. And if he was authorized professional gear then it could have easily been more than that. When we flew overseas we easily had close to 800 lbs ourselves with 4 of us and that doesn't count how much our carry ons weighed either. |

She must have been authorized or they would not have processed her and her baggage. So no need to be upset with her, she had a higher priority. |

It was "I" who wrote up that comment in the Last Category moved section. I had a pretty good idea how much she had because I had helped her load the two carts at the USO! Four supersize bags, plus three regular bags, plus stroller and car seat. Originally her husband was with her but had to go commercial due to time constraints. Apparently on orders which allows the extra baggage. My weight guess might be off by 10 or 20 pounds, but I'll stick with my original estimate!! Can't begin to tell you all how many SPATS were complaining about it because we left people behind -- and surely helped by that baggage load!! |

Lester: I apologize for misreading that post, you were right, it does reference their luggage and not their body weight. |

You nailed it, Lester...700 pounds is a lot of something! I'll never feel guilty again for going 2 pounds over my 30-pound packing goal! |

You people are passing judgement on something you did not witness nor is it any of your business. Apparently, the pax reps handled the situation whatever it was. End of story. |

Cherry: The link is under the Last Category Moved for the latest SEATAC flight. Since we are restricted from commenting about what we read under that caption because of the "rules of the road," it was moved over to the general category. See it for yourself--admittedly the description is imprecise as to what happened, but 700 pounds of whatever it is, is a lot for the PAX reps. to handle. |

Where did people read about this? If we had a link, maybe the rest of us could try to figure out exactly what the situation was, instead of just being puzzled by the back-and-forth! |

Aw, c'mon John. Let's jump to conclusions. How often are you presented with a (possible) 700-pound mama and kid? |

Lester, Excess baggage can be authorized on orders. Without knowing more details I'd hesitate to jump to conclusions and claim abuse. |

Abuse by the woman AND her sponsor who ultimately is responsible for the dependents conduct. |

The report said that they "checked in almost 700 pounds." I took this to mean that the woman and her child could not weigh that much and it was probably the luggage involved. If they did indeed tip the scales at that weight, they would have needed 3-4 seats or more to accommodate one or both of them. So we'll leave the interpretation to the people that were there as I was merely scanning the post. |

You misread the post. The post said the women and her child together weighed 700 lbs. No mention of luggage. |

I read that a PAX with a child checked 700 pounds of baggage on a SEATAC flight this past week. How could this be possible? Does anyone who observed this event have an explanation as the details surrounding this event? I thought that there were limitations on how much a PAX could check. I wonder if this person intended to connect up with a C-21 in the course of his/her travels. |
