Tony, Thanks for the great information. It seems like great minds think alike...what better way to celebrate your anniversary than to show your wife the world. That bus trip sounds like its a great way to see Spain. And like you said, "someone did the driving. |

Oh, and by the way, we flew space-a out of Norfolk NAS and plan on returning to Norfolk on/or about the 28th of May. Since you live in VA, Norfolk is your best alternativa for a space-a flight, but do not discard Dover and Charleston, as well. Happy travels! |

Doug, My wife and I, in celebration of our 40th Anniversary, just completed an 8-day bus tour with "Europamundo" that left Madrid and covered Oporto, Portugal, Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo, Santander, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Peņiscola, Valencia and back to Madrid. Some people don't like bus tours, but we really enjoyed every minute of it; excellent guides, nice 4-star hotels, and much better, someone did the driving for us. If you need additional information, just email me your mailing address and I'll send some information as soon as we get back to PR in about 2 weeks. I purchased the tour package through "Travel With Sears". Happy travels! |

Doug: Welcome to the Board! If you have not yet done so, please familiarize yourself with JohnD's SpaceA Pages (link top left), the general layout of this site and the Search Function (magnifying glass at top center) of this site. Nearly all questions can be answered from those three sources. Having read thru the FAQs is a great start and I would suggest reading thru the other sections on JohnD's site as well. In relation to your proposed trip, traveling SpaceA to/from The East Coast (or anywhere in the CONUS) to Spain (or anywhere in Europe) in the summer as a Cat VI will be very challenging. We try to avoid the Summer (15 May to 15 Sep) as this is typically one of the busiest times (Christmas (15 Dec-10 Jan) being the other) with a lot of competition for spacea. Please ensure that you are prepared to spend more time in terminals than you can imagine. Also be prepared for additional food, lodging and expensive, last minute commercial tickets should you be time restrained upon your attempted return. As stated often on this site, experienced SPATS avoid Christmas and Summer travel whenever possible. IMHO, to do this trip within a two week window (from start to finish) is not realistic. You might be "lucky"...but then again, you might spend your entire two weeks in terminals. SpaceA is really not for those who have a tight schedule. In sum, can it be done??..Yes, Just be mentally prepared for things to not go as smoothly as you might be expecting...and be pleasantly surprised when they work out. Happy travels, John |

I want to take my wife on a trip to Spain for our 30th anniversary this summer. We have a two week window from the beginning of July until the 15th. I need some feedback what would be the best base to leave from. We live in Virginia, and are retired. Appreciate any assistance. Thanks |
