I flew out of Ramstein to McChord on 27 Apr. 11 hour flight and the terminal was closed when we got there. (they do open for incoming flights but that is something to keep in mind) If you need lodging, Ft. Lewis cab can pick you up and take you to the Evergreen Inn but dont let the cab leave because your room may be another cab ride away. Getting home will be the tricky part. I have been stuck in Dover for 5 days now and its not looking too promising as they have 3 C-5's grounded right now, one of which I am manifested on. Guess its the nature of the beast.

You might want to check on Spangdahlem as well. I've put my name down at both...finger crossed.

A lot of planes from Europe go into McGuire and then to McChord. Check the flight schedule section and you will see. Happy Travels.

Walter:

Welcome to the Board!

If you have not yet done so, please familiarize yourself with JohnD's SpaceA Pages (link top left), the general layout of this site and the Search Function (magnifying glass at top center) of this site. Nearly all questions can be answered from those three sources. Having read thru the FAQs is a great start and I would suggest reading thru the other sections on JohnD's site as well.

Yes, there are direct flights from Ramstein to McChord. Please review the Flight Schedules Forum of this site...look under "Ramstein"...for a sense of the frequency of those flights. Also note that unless there is an air-refueling of the aircraft, the mission will probably stop off for gas somewhere on the East Coast (Canada or US) enroute (thus not making it exactly a "direct flight").

Happy Travels, John
