Richard, your wish is our command -- Andrews has a flight scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, going to Chattanooga and on to Nashville. Of course, if you drive up to Andrews you could be halfway to Tennessee in the same time... Not to mention the possibility that the flight out of Andrews could be delayed, dropped, leave early before you even get there, or have no room for space-a passengers. For distances as "short" as between Norfolk and Nashville I think most of us would recommend driving or taking a commercial scheduled carrier (bus, train, plane). Space-a is worth its many risks IMO only when you are trying to cover very long distances OR when flying via a route that is served very frequently so if you fail to get on one flight you know there is a good chance that another will be along fairly soon. |

Thanks for the info. Even though my schedule is flexible, your responses confirm that this is a difficult area to get into and out of. |

Richard- There have been flights in the past into Johnson City, TN from Willow Grove, PA - haven't seen anything recently - you may want to check with Willow Grove to see about any flights that may be going to TRI Tri-Cities Regional, Bristol/Johnson/Kingsport, TN, which is about 2 hours and 4 minutes (115 miles) from Alcoa, TN (Knoxville, TN airport) via I-81 S and I-40 W Hope that helps! Sincerely, Ted_M |

Richard, Your relatively narrow timeframe works against you as does the lack of flights into that area. Occasionally you'll see flights into McGhee-Tyson (Knoxville). Even more rare are flights into Symrna TN (an hour or so from Nashville). Sometimes flights into Huntsville AL or to Kentucky. Getting a return flight from any of those locations is equally challenging. In addition to the AMC Norfolk schedule contact the folks at the Base Ops Terminal at Bldg LP-1 at NAS Norfolk - (757) 444-0169 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (757) 444-0169 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Also check with NAS Oceana (757) 433-2903. I'm from Tennessee and usually opt to drive or take Southwest Airlines to get there given that there just aren't enough flights to/from Tennessee to make it practical. Vic |

Has anyone had any success getting into Tennessee on space-a flights? How about even close? From where? I'm trying to get from Norfolk to the Nashville area sometime in the next week or so and I don't seem to be having much success locating the magic flights. Thanks, Richard |
