Boca Chica does have a lot for long term storage and it's chain fenced, so you can't go into after hours. You have to pay monthly for it and can put cars on it. When my parents were there 05-09 (lived on Sigsbee) they stored their trailer in the lot. It was done through the auto hobby shop and I believe she paid $20 or $25 a month for it. Hope this helps. |

Roger, thanks for the schedule and thanks in advance for the coordinates. Key West is one of the legacy entries inherited from the file pulled from the web. I suspect you can't get too lost down there, but it will help. |

I have volunteered to be the poster for NAS Key West. There is not a lot of space-a opportunity from NAS Key West but it may be helpful to some of our members. I visited Air Ops last week when I was in the area and found out some info about the terminal, car rental, and billeting. NAS Key West is on the island of Boca Chica, a few miles east of the island of Key West. The GPS POI file with the military bases is in error by several miles. (Leland, I will send you a correction for NAS Key West.) I am told that there is NO long term parking at NAS Key West. There is a Thrifty RentaCar desk in the terminal. All billeting for NAS Key West is done at NAS Key West Annex at Trumbo Point, on the island of Key West. The Gateway on Trumbo is clean and modern though parking is rather tight. The cost for my room was $55/night. There is no flight schedule recording. The terminal operates day and evenings only. They have no info on seat availability, though they will tell you the type of aircraft and you can make educated guesses. Happy travels, Roger in Jacksonville, FL |
