The Tuesday and Thursday flights from Miramar to Andrews that Jon wrote about are, I presume, the returning medevacs. If that is so, then be advised that there *usually* is one on Sunday also. However, like all space-a these are still subject to change!

Paul, each week, Miramar has a flight on Tuesday and Thursday to Andrews. This would get you fairly close. Hope this helps.

Jon

William ... thanks for the tip about Dover. I had not considered anything that far north but if it gets me there that's all I care about.

Paul: I live in the March ARB area and travel to the east coast often. If I was going to Charleston, I would fly (1) from March to Travis and from Travis to Charleston AFB or (2) from March direct to Dover and from Dover to Charleston. There are planes between Dover and Charleston at least once daily. Go for it and Happy Travels.

Sorry, I meant to say March to Travis, then Travis to Charleston. North Island and Miramar could get you to Norfolk. No matter which route you choose, it will not be easy.

North Island seldom has flights to Travis, March seems to fly there at least 1 time a week.

SOCAL departure prefs are Miramar, North Island and March in that order. Any advice appreciated.

Does North Island have flights to Travis often?

You could fly from North Island to Travis, then Travis to Charleston. That would be your most direct route. The Navy route would involve a few more flights and you still might not get where you want to go.
The summer is one of the worst times to fly anywhere for a Cat VI. It can be done with a lot of patience, money and time.
Good luck and happy travels!

Paul:

Welcome to the Board!

If you have not yet done so, please familiarize yourself with JohnD's SpaceA Pages (link top left), the general layout of this site and the Search Function (magnifying glass at top center) of this site. Nearly all questions can be answered from those three sources. Having read thru the FAQs is a great start and I would suggest reading thru the other sections on JohnD's site as well.

Keep in mind that, generally speaking, Navy planes fly to/from Navy Bases and Air Force planes fly to/from USAF bases. So you may need to fly Travis to/from Charleston (USAF routing) or North Island to/from NAS Jax or Norfolk (Navy routing). Check the Flight Schedules portion of this site to get an idea of who flys where.

Happy Travels, John

Does anyone know what the most direct routes are for a San Diego to Charleston, SC hop (& return)? I know the various end-points in SOCAL but not which one gets me either directly to Charleston AFB or a connection from some other AMC terminal between San Diego and Charleston. I just retired so this is my first time in 28 years to have the time to use Space A.
