I'm sure you all know that Geilenkirchen is only 110 miles north of Spangdahlem. About 2 hours drive time. When I visited Geilenkirchen a few years ago, we were unable to obtain quarters there and had to drive into the town of Geilenkirchen to spend the night , for about $110. Since we were heading to Oktoberfest in a rental car, we never inquired about the space a opportunities there. |

Just called Rickenbacker ANG Base, OH. They recently did their Tanker rotation. He said no SpaceA to Geilenkirchen, unless you are stationed there. Guess the SOFA rule still applies. |

here's a number for the pax terminal at Geilenkirchen. If you call, remeber you'll likely be speaking with NATO personnel or a local national, who will have very little knowledge of the AMC Space-A Universe. 0049 2451 632512 There are flights out of Geilenkirchen to CONUS monthly to various ANG bases, not all of which allow PAX. BUT, local rules state you must sign up for travel in person. To get to Geilenkirchen from CONUS you would need to coordinate with stateside ANG unit |

Prior to this assignment we were stationed in Northern Belgium and we would receive an annual list for GK flights. I think it was only open to people who fell under NATO. We never used it, but a friend of ours did. |

SpaceA is off limits to/from Geilenkirchen, Germany (told to me years ago by the ANG Liaison Rep.). The Golden Goose at this NATO Base was killed by a Retiree out of Scott AFB on a Tanker flight a few years ago. He demanded Medical type services and when denied (because it is a NATO Base) had a tiff. This was said to have happened 2 times by the same fellow. The American Component Base Cdr. then reviewed the policy, and rather than ban this fellow with poor judgement, banned the Base for all SpaceAers. SOFA covered folks (Europe assigned) may be able to fly in/out of Geilenkirchen. As you can see from the CONUS Bases on the old schedule in this article; great gateways were lost: http://www.franknoort.nl/site/fn-add/magazines/scans/tankers-scramble.pdf |

From what I remember, there is no more Space A out of there. About three or four years ago, the French took over control of the NATO base and it is no longer an "entry point" to Europe. |

Anyone know if there is traffic out of Geilenkirchen? I was thinking maybe airframe swap out between Geilenkirchen and Tinker. Or does anyone have any phone numbers to inquire at Geilenkirchen? Thanks |
