Wife and I (Cat VI) flew out and back x2 from Westover. Concur w/ Tony - great support from Pax reps. We were manifested to Rota via Norfolk. The C-5 broke (of course) in Norfolk so we had to RON. No worries getting out the next day. Got back from Rota via Lajes. |

Michael- You might also want to check out the option of Stewart NYANG as they are close to you as well, and have shown flights to both Rota and Ramstein recently. At least an option. Good luck! Ted_M |

Michael, Walter's advice regarding flights out of Westover is correct, if by any chance that flight is cancelled, which happens quite often, then you have a problem because there aren't daily flights out of Westover. But I've known people who have left Westover to Rota via Dover without problems. There's always the possibility for something to happen at Dover that you may be bumped, but that's a 50/50 chance. Regarding flying into Westover, I flew there once from Rota with a stop at McGuire, and had no problems at all. The people at the Westover Terminal are very friendly and helpful. Happy travels! |

Greetings: Westover averages about two flights per week to Europe, often to Rota, and they usually return in about a week. The Pax Terminal is staffed by volunteers and the flights are occasionally cancelled. But, because Westover is not a major base, getting a spaceA seat out of there is fairly easy. On the return side, if it is a nonstop flight back to Westover, your chance of getting a spaceA seat are good. If the return flight is stopping at either Dover, Charleston, Norfolk or Mcguire, etc., getting a seat may be more difficult. About 5 years ago, I flew spaceA via Westover several times; no problems and pax termianl volunteers were great. Good luck. |

Long time lurker, first time poster looking for advice. I am active duty and plan to Space A to Europe this summer with two dependents. I understand this is during the peak CAT III travel, but like others, I don’t have an option. Because of the nature of my current assignment, I will be on leave from mid-June to mid-August. So if I wait a week or two into my leave I think I’ll have an advantage over many other CAT IIIs. I live about two hours from Westover ARB and would like to try and catch one of the two weekly flights to Europe via Dover. Based on the forum’s advice, I figure I have the best chance of getting manifested through to Rota/Spangdahlem from the mission’s origin. I have not seen much posted about Westover ARB would like to ask if anyone has any experience with these missions. Besides the “normal” C-5 challenges, is there anything special or out of the ordinary about that I should be aware of about Westover? Thanks in advance for your help. Mike |
