Thanks all! I'm going to do just that... take anything headed to the east coast. Hopefully, the volcano will continue to rest, or stay north, or whatever it's doing right now and keep away from the southern flight paths!! Wish me luck! Trip report to follow on my travel adventure to Spain. First Space A trip as a CAT VI. |

Rota has 1 - 2 flights to the US per day. However, we were told, the tankers and missions are not taking passengers. Then there are the Patriot Express and C-130s comming through full from downrange. Good Luck! elf |

I'd take anything you can get to the east coast. McGuire and Norfolk sometimes have flights onto Charleston. If not the cost of one way Hertz rental from McGuire was $100 last year. Prob similar from Norfolk or Dover (remember though Dover has almost no rental on base on weekends). Or look at Amtrak. There have been trip reports on how to get from McGuire to the train (via Philly I think) and it may be on the AMCgram. Good luck |

The best way to find the answer is to talk with the pax terminal reps to determine how many Cat VI's are getting out. You should be in better shape being at Rota than being at a busier terminal like Ramstein. Good luck |

After a harrowing experience getting out CONUS to Rota at the end of May (CHS-ANDREWS-DOVER-ROTA), I'm finally going to attempt to head back to Charleston from Rota o/a Jun 14. How hard is it to catch a hop back to CONUS from Rota for a CAT IV, single traveller? I've already signed up @Rota on May 12, and I've reserved 3 nights on the base (just in case). Been searching on the site for any recent travel back to stateside from Rota.. difficulties? Thanks!! |
