We all need to remember that "Show Time" is a moving target. Show Time is calculated as that time in advance of "wheels up" that is required to process the passengers to fill the allocated seats. Often, seat availability numbers change prior to the flight, and show time must be changed to accomodate the new seat count. More seats means an earlier show time. Wheels Up is not supposed to be advertised, so it's often difficult to estimate a change in show time. Best advice I ever got when trying to estimate when to go to the terminal: "Go early, Go Often". |

Bottom line is be there ahead of time or an hour early of Show time, Roll Call or whatever they want to call it and mark yourself present with the paxrep upon arrival. |

Show times used to be for duty pax. It was the lastest time they had to report for a flight. Space a roll calls usually happen after this time but can be earlier if there are known open seats. Best bet is to ask and plan to be in the terminal and declared present at what ever time you are told to be there or even earlier if you can. Flights can and do depart early so my advise would be to keep your eyes and ears open and go with the flow. The terms are often used interchangebly by the pax reps but the time you need to know is the time you are advised to be there. |

I agree with John D -- "showtime" and "roll call" can be and often are at very different times. At most terminals I have flown from, you must have had 'official contact' with the AMC desk at or before "showtime". THEN they go over their paperwork on all who have declared themselves for that flight, prioritize the categories and the people within those categories according to their signup date/time, and some time later start the "roll call" where they read out names of people who have been selected. Those people then go up to the counter (or wherever) to complete their paperwork for the flight (such as ordering and paying for box lunch, stating personal body weight, declaring final destination and suchlike). Depending on the terminal, checked baggage is weighed and tagged and taken away either right then or at another location to which those manifested are sent. So here's another monkey wrench to throw into this steaming pot of confusing and redundant terms -- do you suppose that by "check-in" they actually mean the first step I mentioned above, that is "declare yourself present" (for a particular flight)? That makes the most sense to ME (but of course, AMC does not think like me, for better or worse <G>) |

I'm not sure about you folks but regardless of what the official definitions are "show time" and "roll call" are not the same thing (at least in my mind). Roll Call (the process of prioritizing and selecting pax)"may" occur at the same time as show time (a point in time) but it could also occur some time (even hours) after the show time has passed. Still not sure what Travis means by "Check in" - if it's synonymous with either show time or roll call then I'm not sure how introducing new terminology improves the process. Based on the original inquiry and subsequent responses it appears to be introducing some confusion! |

Dinotars; I have talked to you on the phone before. Being travel ready is in the regs. What is your question? All the wording is the same at check-in time the roll call/check-in is being conducted. The check-in terminology came in after a Lean Team process with passenger terminal processes this is nothing new and going on for years...Be Safe! |

Is that explanation just a Travis thing,or can it be found in any publication for all terminals to use? |

If the check-in time is 0840 then you need to present and travel ready at 0840. The check-in will then be performed. The term "roll call/show time" is the same thing. The departure times can never be given out. |

That may be the prudent thing to do but you could call Travis to ask them to clarify what they men by "check-in" time. Please lest us know what you find out as I haven't heard that term used before. |

I recently called Travis about a flight to Kadena. The recording said that the "Check In" time was 8:40 AM. Is that the same as Show Time? Online the schedule says the flight has a "Late AM" EAM (0600-1159) Show Time. Should I be there by 0600 to declare myself "Present"? |
