McChord to Ramstein

I have seen some flights over the years to Germany from Charleston, but my two flights during the last couple of years (last was Spring 2009) out of Charleston went to Rota Spain. Flights from Rota to Germany are few and far between, so don't recommend going that route. My son and I are CAT V, unaccompanied. It seems that it is rather hard to to Germany from McCord. I'd appriciate any advice. I'm thinking I'll probably need to buy a commercial ticket to the east coast and fly out from there. Where would be the best place for that? I have a good friend near Ft. Stewart, Georgia that I would love to make a stopover to see. Are flights out of Charleston to Germany often?
