Just a quick note to post an on-scene update for the Hickam terminal for those trying to get to Travis (me, too). As of yesterday there was a flight bound for Travis with a 0500 showtime this morning. Called at midnight, and the flight was no longer listed, with nothing listed for Today (wed) or tomorrow. I was very excited about this mornings flight, because it was going through to McChord - my hopeful destination (Fairchild being my ultimate destination, but rare flights into there and an easy drive from Seattle, McChord works great). I was bummed when it was no longer listed at midnight. So anyway... I stopped off at the terminal this morning (0800 local) to see what was up. The current recording only lists 1 flight to Travis tomorrow, with 0 seats pending. It's a C-17 on a scheduled cargo run up from Australia, and the guy at the counter said that it's usually packed full of cargo, but an occasional batch of seats may pop up. There is another flight to Travis tomorrow that is NOT on the current recording - it's a national guard KC-135. The guy at the counter said that this flight usually has a few seats, but the crew doesn't release the seat count until about an hour before showtime. Show time for this un-listed flight is noon, so expect a seat count to be released at around 11ish. They probably won't update their recording between their 0500 shift change and when this flight gets booked, so call the number (option 8 to talk to a human) for details. Friday was the same - another flight to Travis is currently on the books, but zero seats pending. If I remember right, this was a C-5. Anyway... not a great outlook for the Hickam to Travis run for the rest of this week, possibly a ride out at noon tomorrow for a select few, if the Guard guys are feeling generous. Good luck to all trying to get out of here! Unfortunately, I didn't really pay attention to what all else there was - I do remember a potential Dover flight on Friday and a McChord each on Fri/Sat. |
