Just a reminder: If you have reservations at the Space Coast Inn for Wednesday night, Check in begins at 1500, but if rooms are clean, you can check in a 1/2 hour earlier @ 1430. The get-together at the Tides Club begins at 1630 (4:40 PM). It will be informal in the dining room at the Tides Club on A1A across from AFTECH, Air Force Technical Applications Center. See you there. |

A little confused about the location of the Tides Club and the location of the Main Gate. The Google map I found plots it right at the intersection of the two runways. Is the gate on the north side or the south side of the base? TIA Roger in Jacksonville, FL |

The lot we will park in is on Patrick AFB. Come in the Main Gate...off State Route A1A. You can ask the gate guard for directions to the "Riverside TLF's". It's real easy to find. From the Main Gate, drive straight ahead. At the 2nd stop sign, turn right. Drive to the next stop sign just south of the housing area. Turn left and the lot is on the right. For Captain's night, formal ware is optional. You may see someone in a tux, but why bring one along for a 3 day cruise when you'll wear it for only 2 hours??? Coat and tie (along with a shirt, underwear, belt, etc) is good enough. Lighten up....this is supposed to be a fun cruise where you relax, have fun and charge the batteries. If all you do is make one new friend who entices you to try going space a to a new destination that you've never been to, it will be worth it. Sleep late, overeat at the buffet (and walk it off on the top deck the next morning, tell a joke, hear a new one...or just relax and read a good book. Need more suggestions.....let me know. |

As it stands now, we will have a meet and greet at the Tides Club (Joint NCO/Officers club) on SR A1A across from the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTECH) beginning around 4:30 PM. The Club will have a buffet dinner beginning at 5:00 PM. Anybody who is an Air Force Club member gets a discount. Everybody else pays menu price. On Thursday morning if you want to take advantage of the parking on base, you need to drive to the parking lot east of the Riverside TLF's. Come into the base via the main gate off SR A1A. Drive straight ahead and turn right at the 2nd stop sign. Drive north and turn left at the next stop sign. Transportation via the 45 FSS bus is $10/couple round trip. 1st trip will leave for the port around 9 AM. Its a 25 pax bus, so with luggage and passengers, it will take 2-3 trips to get everybody to the ship. My advice is to pack "Light". This is only a 3 day cruise. Dress is casual (shorts, sandels, bathing suit). You only need something more formal for Captain's night...party dress/sport coat shirt & tie. I believe the dinning room doesn't allow shorts/flip flops/sandels or tank tops. Make sure you've signed up on Carnival's website and filled out your fun pass. You need your passport info, a credit card#, your booking number from Cheryl and your personal information for each traveler. You can puruse the website about tours in Nasseau and book tickets ahead of time. ME....I'm recharging batteries....I'm going to relax, read that book I've been promising myself I was going to read and making new friends an telling old war stories. Looking forward to meeting you all. |

Garee: Not true. There will be 2-4 trips. The Services bus is only a 25 pax bus. Pax plus luggage will necessitate multiple trips. When we get a final count, we will set up a schedule. Stay tunned. |

Thanks Barry, your efforts are really appreciated. We may come over for the Wednesday thing but definitely will come and park and ride over to the cruise terminal. I know it will only be one run over and one back on Sunday. We just have to know what time to be there if we drive over on Thursday morning from Ocala. We really are looking forward to the cruise and meeting so many more Space A folks. Three years ago it was 16 and now, almost 50. That is grand! What are others doing "ashore excursions" in Nassau? |

We are set to meet at the Tides colocated Officer/NCO club on the beach off A1A beginning 4:30-5 PM. This is not a structured thing other than chips/dips & cash bar. Dinner is at your own pleasure. The dinning room is available from 5-8:30. Any military club memeber gets a $2 discount. Non club members pay menu price. As an alternative, there are several good restaurants in the area. The get-together will be basically a meet and greet and info on parking and transportation arrangements for the following day to get to the port to check in for the cruise. Once on board, we will have a 2 hr block in one of the Ship's lounges @ 9 AM Friday after breakfast and before we reach Nasseau. Bring your favorite Space A story, good or bad and be prepared to meet new and interesting people. It will be fun and will add to your memories. Once we've all had a drink or two, we can bitch, moan & complain about taxes, politicians, and whether we want Tiger Woods to win at the Masters..... |

Pat: I've talked with the club manager at the Tides co-located NCO/Officer's club. Our plan is to meet at the club Wednesday evening, 12 May for dinner and drinks. Everybody can order from the menu. Afterward, if the group is large enough, the manager will let us use on of the funtion rooms and provide us free chips and dips and a cash bar. They start serving @ 5 PM. |

Right now, 12 May 10 occupancy is projected very low. I could approach my manager for a block of rooms, but only if the paid up numbers thru ITT improve. Might even be able to work out free parking at Patrick AFB and a deal with Services to bus Pepperd cruisers to & from the port for a nominal fee. Again this is all predicated on paid-up reservations for the cruise. ITT, Lodging, Outdoor Rec's bus are all parts of the Services SQ. Contact Cheryl at PAFB ITT. |

Roger...I'm all for a 'get-2-gether' this coming May, for us/those 'non-cruisers', any where on a base in North Florida. Don't have to be a regular cook-out like a big reunion, maybe a 'pot-luck' lunch on an empty picnic table, or just meet/talk/eat in any club on Base. Maybe on the 11th-12th May, just before the Cruise-ship leaves post. Anyway, here's my salute and hope others are interested in a mini-'get-2-gether'.. TD |

I have had e-mail contact that supports the idea of meeting some place prior to the cruise for those who would like to get together that are not signed up for the cruise. It could be at a date that would allow the cruise passengers the chance to attend the meet-up as well. I think there is enough time before the cruise date to discuss the dry-land meet-up before anyone needs to arrange a date, time, and place to do it. I do not want to take away any of the folks who are considering the cruise but I know that there are some that do not want to cruise for economics or for preference reasons. Anyway, let's open it up for discussion (run it up the flagpole and see who salutes). Roger in Jacksonville, FL |
