After many years of trying to fly space a from Charleston to Colorado with no success, Ron decided to try it one more time. Our daughter lives in Denver and was determined to drive home for Christmas with her 13 year old black lab who has cancer. Ron was equally determined that she wasn't going to drive this 23 hour route alone.

There was a flight going from Charleston to Andrews on Monday morning and a flight from Andrews to Peterson on Tuesday. We have flown to Andrews and driven up there many times to try for posted flights to Colorado to no avail but Ron wanted to give it one more try. There was no room on base at Andrews so he spent Monday night at a hotel off base. When he came back to the terminal on Tuesday, there was only one other person there who was trying to fly to Scott and no one trying for the Peterson flight. He was told that it was a 7 passenger C-21 and that it looked good for him to get on that flight. The flight took off a few hours after show time with Ron, a 3 star general, his aide, and the pilot and co-pilot. It was his best flight ever and the general and aide were very cordial and included him in most of their conversations.

They stopped in Arkansas to refuel and the crew brought them all a barbecue sandwich.

Our daughter met him at the gate at Peterson and they are now resting up for their long trek back home by car on Thursday. He plans to drive back with her and fly home from Peterson at the end of December. We will report on that later.

We realize that nothing is constant with space a but this very positive experience gives us encouragement to try to visit our daughter more often via space a. We are so thankful to have this benefit.
