I will be rotating back to CONUS soon, so I wanted to take the family on one last big trip. Cambodia had been on my list of places I wanted to see for quite some time now, so I figured I should give it a try. Not to bore you with all the details, my plan went something like this... Plan A: Go Space-A from Kadena to Yokota and on to Singapore. Then go commercial for the rest of the trip. Plan B: Try anything Space-A that would possibly get me to Singapore. Then go commercial for the rest of the trip. Usually Plan A would have been a pretty safe bet, but as it turned out, I had to go with Plan B. This started with catching a flight on a C-35 from MCAS Futenma to Atsugi. Then a train to Yokota. Then a KC-10 to Singapore. From Singapore we flew JetStar to Cambodia and spent 6 wonderful days in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Then we flew Bangkok Air to Chiang Mai, Thailand for 5 days. I took Silk Air back to Singapore and caught the DC-8 back to Yokota and the PatExp back to Kadena. This was an excellent family trip. And I would highly recommend it to anyone. |
