Charolette, one base to look at for your flight back, might be Jackson, Mississippi. They have several flight a week, and becasue of where it is located, is not a hot spot with lots of folks trying for the seats. The folks there are great, give them a call and see what they say. It is a cargo type plane, and that might not work for you little one, you would have to check that out with them. |

You said $400 for the flight to LAX and $50 for the bus/train, spent $800, surely the hotel didn't cost $350 for one night even at 4*. Glad you made it home. |

sorry yeah Ramstein, We all call it RAB (Ramstein Air Base) in Germany, well all of my friends do. Haven't decided what I'm doing yet for return, have a few months to figure it out. Most of the people I talked to on my trip have said its easier getting to ramstein than getting to the states though so we shall see! |

Charolette, I presume by "RAB" you mean Ramstein (RMS) or some other location? Have you planned your return strategy appropriate for your Category (Cat-III, IV, V)? |

Well my 3yr old, 8mo old and I spent an entire day at RAB with no luck getting out and we were number 1 on the list all day, we were trying to make it on the travis flight but they cancelled the flights like all day. So we went home and rested a day and went back 2 days after that. We ended up getting on the Baltimore flight in which they had over 100 seats available. My 8month old slept the entire flight and my 3 year old slept half of it and watched movies the other half so we had a pleasant flight to Baltimore for sure! We arrived in BWI at around midnight and went to the USO and stayed there until 6am when we decided to go to the hotel. Awesome hotel! the Four points, they had a USO rate, let us check in at 6am, had a free shuttle, and an awesome breakfast!! We stayed the day and night there to rest up and then I purchased tickets from BWI to LAX so for all 3 of us was only 400 bucks! I thought that was a steal! then we took a bus and train to our final destination for 50 bucks. So all in all we spent obout 800 bucks to get to cali, but it was wayyyy cheaper than the 3000 for tickets from germany!! We had an awesome time and met some really nice people!! Hope all you other parents traveling alone with children have as great of an experience as we did! Happy travels! |
