It was the Patriot Express from Seatac to Yokota. He is on his way to Singapore. |

The ticketing level below the USO, and the reference to the B757 leads me to believe he is talking about the SEATAC Patriot Express. |

"Roll call promptly commenced Mon. at 8:30 p.m at the Ticketing level" Okay, I am trying to figure out where you are showing up for roll call. You don't mention which base or terminal, and I can't tell what this trip report is about from the title, "I Shall Return" |

Roll call promptly commenced Mon. at 8:30 p.m at the Ticketing level just below the USO which is in the Mezzanine level, we were ask to fill up the usual form and was told to meet back in an hour. Actually it took almost two hours wherein he gave the green lights to anyone above Cat VI. We were told (Cat VI’s) to sit tight till our fate is determined. There was a tense 30 minute before he came back and gave the 6 or so Cat VI’s the OK to check in. TIP: I made sure that my final destination is indicated as Paya Lebar, so at Yokota if I check in within 30 minutes of arrival, my sign up date would be the original one. We were charged $15.40 for this flight. The plane is a North American Airlines B757 with a capacity of 195 seats. There were only 131 passengers on this flight so 64 seats were empty. The first leg was a two or so hour flight to Anchorage. We had our evening meal at this time - choice Turkey or Ham sandwich with the usual acutrements. We stayed about two hours in Anchorage and weren’t allowed to deplane. There were no screaming babies and toddlers on this flight - thanks for small blessings. We were fed breakfast upon being airborne - choice of Egg Omelet or French Toast, and another Turkey/Ham sandwich meal hours later. Movies were Sherlock Holmes and Avatar. We landed at Yokota at 6:40 Wed. local time. We’ve been traveling a total of 15 hours give and take a few minutes. The plane is proceeding to Osan, then Bhusan ? We were bused to the Air Terminal; after we claimed our baggages, we were bused to a Japanese Custom and Immigration offices just outside the base. The USAF is mandated by the Japanese government to perform this chore for all non-SOFA personnel. Am now staying at the Kanto Lodge for a Paya Lebar flight Mon. The $28.00 room last year is now $39.00, a 71% increase. Space A travel is starting to cost, folks! To be continued………… |
