Nice trip report. We plan to go to MacDill in July to visit with our son who is coming from Guam for a course. Looking forward to checking out the pax terminal.
Happy travels

Departed from Pittsburgh on 21 May on a C130 nonstop to MacDill for a weekend trip. Macdill is a very large base and a rental car is nice to have. The base gym rents bikes on weekdays during duty hours for free. The club is only open Friday and Saturday nights. Not many people use the club. Breakfast at the golf club is a good deal. Not many people eat there. The beach on the base is close to the golf course. Lodging was available on base. The Enterprise rep was mean and not friendly so I chose not to rent from him. Our plane was broke and did not return on Sunday, I only packed for 2 days so I bought new underwear and socks. The plane was supposed to be repaired on Monday but the plane was still broke after the repair. There was a KC135 that went to Hawaii with 10 seats but only 1 pax. There was a Gulfstream going to Peterson with 6 seats and only 4 pax but was eventually canx due to high winds in Colorado. Later that day there was a KC135 to Naples (I didn't bring my passport) with 10 seats. I saw a active duty family of 6, not sure if anyone else made that space a call because we had received word that our plane would be broke for more than a week and so I had to go to plan B. I remembered seeing a post about 1 way rentals from Florida to the Northeast for a very low price. I made a reservation with Hertz for a rental to Pittsburgh for $29.00 for 1 week. 3 other category 6's and I shared a taxi to the Tampa airport. The trip home was about 2 days.
