I am writing this trip report because it was very good to me and also very important to me. The other day, there were two KC-10s sitting at Sigonella. I called the terminal to see when they were leaving and if they had released any seats. I was informed they were leaving soon and they open 8 seats. I was already packed and got over to the terminal right away. I was the only Space-A taker. The planes dropped the Lajes stop and flew non-stop to McGuire. 9 hours after take off I was in America. The crew was very kind, letting me sit in the cockpit on arrival at McGuire. The SRA was very nice showing me around the plane and the refueling station. While we did not refuel any planes it was nice to see how they did it and his pride in his job. Arriving at McGuire around 3:30 PM I used this site to come up with a couple of ideas on how to get to Norfolk. The rental cars on base were closed for the holiday weekend. I called the Rapid Rover cab company and they picked me up abotu 30 minutes later. 75.00 from McGuire to Philly airport. I am not complaining as I was told they van would carry up to 7 passengers for the same price except I was the only one in the terminal looking to get there. Once I was there, I had already used some skymiles to complete my travels to Norfolk. USAirways charged me 25,000 miles for a round trip and 105.00 dollars for the ticket. Buying a normal one-way ticket last minute was 444.00 and more. A last minute round trip ticket was going to be 386.00 last minute that is why I used the miles. I was just wanting to get home to momma and them.
