Misawa to Tokyo would have to be bullet train for about $300.

We're not familiar with right seat driving or the lay of the land so is a train ride worth considering. Any flights from Misawa to Toyko? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Our trip began sitting at the terminal in Misawa, Japan (where we are stationed) and missing a Space A to Kadena by 1 seat. The kids and I decided to try to get down to Yokota by car since there was a flight to Anderson the next morning. After driving 9 hours, we made it to Yokota and slept at billeting for $41.50. Next morning we got up to compete for a flight that ended up not going. We decided to head for the bowling alley and enjoy Yokota anyways. Next day, we tried for another flight that was cancelled. The Airman suggested Kadena to Anderson since a few flights were going out in the next few days. We made the cut (we are CAT IV) and headed to Kadena. They had NO billeting anywhere (we called 4 places including Camp Foster) so we headed for the USO which is open 24 hours on Fri/Sat.. Just a few hours in, we ran into an awesome family who invited us to hang out with them and gave us an air mattress to sleep on in their home. Next day we looked another flight that was slipped. The following morning another flight was cancelled, but I looked into Yokota again and they had one for the day. Chasing that flight took us hopping to Atsugi, taking the train to Yokota, sleeping a few hours and trying for the Anderson flight the next morning. WE GOT ON! There were 20 seats available and only 2 of us families wanted it....took 10! We are enjoying Guam with some friends. All in all, after a flight on a B747, DC9 and a C130 ....taking a train trip and driving a bit, still worth it in my book.
By the way, I did all of this with my kids who are the BEST travelers ever...ages 1, 6 and twin 7 year olds. It can be done!

Happy summer!
