part II here we are at Vogelweh lodging trying to adjust with the time change. my story continues at McGuire as my family and I wait for the KC-10 to be loaded. I mentioned earlier that they released 7 seats. Well as we sat waiting the family with us was pulled due to a duty traveler. The mom and her 2 kids were left another night at the terminal but so goes the space A story. We were taken to the plane and loaded but had to land at Dover to fuel because Mcguire is having its long runway extended and the planes cannot take off full of fuel and cargo. very nice flight and would recommend a KC-10 to anyone. we landed in Ramstein about 1500 local time, picked up our rental and headed for lodging. We are spending this week doing day trips and leaving Friday to Garmisch to spend a week at Edelweiss lodge more to follow |

here we go again for the 9th SPAT trip from Mcguire to Ramstein. Left on Friday the 18th of July driving from New Hampshire to Mcguire for a 1830 flight to Ramstein. While in route and stuck in traffic for 2 hours on the George Washington Bridge in New York, I called the terminal to get an update on the flight and to my surprise (not) the flight did a fly over and did not land in Mcguire. I am just glad that I was not on that flight. Not sure where it landed. Anyway myself, my wife, 16 year old daughter and 4 year old son spent 2 nights in a local hotel because the base was full due to this weekend being a Battle Assembly for the Army Reserves. The next flight we are looking at is now on Sunday with a showtime of 1640. We spent our free time seeing the new toy story movie and riding go-carts on Ft. Dix which is right next to mcguire AFB. We showed up 3 hours before rollcall with all bags in tow and the car in long term parking just in case we were called. Well we were lucky to get 4 of the 7 seats released on the plane going which is right now as I type. I will continue this journey when we get to Germany |
