Garland, I seem to recall there were two words associated with those covers :-)

Any one remember when we used sheete for a week then put the top sheet on the bottom for the next week or when we Navy men slept on a "matress cover" and wool blanket for the top sheet.
I too struggled with the rubber sheet, I could feel the maids pain stretching them all day

Kathleen, on behalf of you and your rubber sheet attacks, I called HQ Commander of All US Military Lodging.

They told me it is only done to retired Army Nurses.

No one else gets the rubber sheet treatment.

Joking...don't yell! LOL

But, I have known people to carry their own sheets and pillows when travelling across country in their POV.

One woman I know is scared to take home bed bugs.

She was ok until I reminded her that using your own sheets is nice..but you throw the dirty sheets in the morning into your car!!!

Kathleen I know what your talking about. You made a wonderful, funny story from a serious situation.
My wife and I stayed in the Gateway Inn at NAS Meridian Ms over Thanksgiving. We got a suite with a queen bed. Every time I got up during the night{a senior thing] I sat on the edge bed to slip on a pair of shoes, I don't like walking on those rugs in my bare feet, and when I moved the darn rubber sheet would squeek. Every time it would squeek I would get this static from the other side of the bed. I ended up on the pull-out in the setting room.

Have a nice day. Chuck

As a joke!!

Are we sure it is not a woman problem and maybe not a rubber sheet problem?

I spent 20 years in the A.F. and made a lot of trips but did not notice the situation mentioned.

Hi, K,

NO, you are not the only one to remove the rubber sheets and remake the bed....

Currently at the KMCC hotel and have not had a problem of that sort, even though I toss and turn quite a bit.

I've never had any of these rubber sheet attacks at any of the lodging locations I've stayed at. I can see how your rest is interrupted.

While I commend the Lodging Folks at Ramstein and Annapolis for their deep, comfortable mattresses, I must confess I hate strangulation by attack sheets. It seems that they have put rubber sheets under the fitted cotton bottom sheets to protect those lovely mattresses. The problem is noticable when you awaken with the feeling of rubber hoses under your shoulder blades. The cotton sheet is too small, and when it comes out, it drags the rubber sheet with it. Then the whole sandwich curls and attacks the hopeless victim. So then you get out of bed, disoriented and exhausted from jet lag and travel exertions, and attempt to tug the sheet corner back over the very large mattress. Husband still sleeps and rubber sheet holds mattress pad substrait in death grip. Give up, fall asleep, then awaken again with attack of the rubber sheet. Redo.

Does anyone else have problems with the rubber attack sheets? Am I, a retired Army Nurse, assertive enough to simply remove the rubber sheet and remake the bed? Is a too small fitted cotton bottom sheet the most important thing I can think of to complain about? These are questions too difficult to consider compared with the gravity of rubber attack sheets. One more question-why doesn't the hotel put the mattress pad on top of the rubber sheet if they assume customers are, um, incontinent?
