When I checked in today there were rooms available here at Ramstein, but not in the KMCC building. Rooms were also open at Vogelweh.

Wife and I stayed there last week. I walked up to the desk and asked for a room. Rep said sorry no rooms then looked at her computer and said wait a room just popped up and she got it. Great one night stay.

Michelle, I stayed at Ramstein twice in November and December. The first time, November, we couldn't get a room in the new KMCC but did have one for the base. In December I telephoned the night before and did lock in a room for one night in the KMCC which is all I needed. Fast forward to the present. Last week I could only get a room at Vogelweh. I now have a room on Ramstein for three nights starting tomorrow over near the library as KMCC was filled. As a footnote I was with my wife in November and December while this trip I'm by myself. That makes a difference as a single it's okay to share a head. Good luck.

Michelle, in November I tried to obtain a reservation for the new KMCC but couldn't make it though we did get a suite behind the Deutsches Haus. In December we did get a room in the KMCC which made my wife very happy. Personally, I prefer one of the other buildings as they're more conveniet to the gym, Woodlawn golf course, Deuthsches Haus, etc if you don't have a car.

Michelle: When we were in Souda Bay, Crete last September I called Ramstein and was told they were full. When we got there it was still full so we called Spandahlem (hour away), rented a car at the new building and got a nice suite at Spang. Before leaving Spang we called Ramstein and reserved a two-bed room in the new building and managed to stay there from Sunday through Friday. I would call before leaving CONUS and on arrival.

Michelle: We obtain lodging both times we needed lodging at Ramstein. Lodging at the new complex was more difficult to obtain but there was plenty of lodging at the other facilities on Ramstein but not at the new complex. They have a lot of no-shows and a lot of lodging does open up at the new complex but you must wait until later in the afternoon for it. The clerks at the hotel will assist if you approach them with the right attitude. Have faith and Happy Travels.

Michelle:

A quick read thru the Ramstein thread below seems to indicate a mixture of experiences.

However, I would still be prepared for nothing to open up until after 1800.

Happy travels, John

For those who have recently been to RMS and been successful at getting lodging at the new RMS hotel..did you still have to wait for no shows to drop after 6pm or were they able to accommodate you before that? i was already informed that they have no availability for the nights i need next week but I am still hopeful.
