When talking on the phone and asked their rank by a civilian receptionist at a billeting office of a different service, I just think it makes sense to use the pay grade. As a Marine Corps 0-3 I normally say Captain when asked for my rank. You would be surprised at what happens if this is a Navy base or Navy aircraft :-) Coming out of Rota last Fall my boarding pass clearly showed my O-3 status and we were duly seated towards the rear of the aircraft. The USAF has a senior NCO rank "Chief Master Sergeant" commonly called a Chief. The US Navy and Coast Guard have 3 ranks that use the title Chief. The other services have a warrant officer rank called Chief Warrant Officer...sometimes called a "Chief". Lots of folks from one branch of the military use the wrong term or don't understand the terms/ranks/acranyms of other branches (let alone how to spell them....). We once had an Army Chief Warrant Officer call Protocol and ask for a Chief Suite (meaning Chief Master Sergeant). They gave it to him over the phone. When he checked in, I noticed he wasn't a CMSgt, but a Chief Warrant Officer. I told him he could stay one night, not the 5 he had requested. He was a little miffed, but I reported the situation to Protocol and they backed me up (false representation). Of course the topper to this story, the Master Card he paid with wouldn't accept the charge. This was after using the 1-877 Navy Bed number and they said there were no rooms available. Try the Bachelor Housing office at (808) 473-1203 / 5995 or the Pearl Harbor Reservations office at (808) 428-2603 /2604 or Arizona Hall (808) 421-6113 This is the number I called. If Ruby answers tell her that Uncle Bud says Hi. Give them a call for reservations. I've tasted worse. Someone mentioned staying in Chiefs quarters at Pearl Harbor. I have searched and not been able to find the post/thread. Can someone please help me with information regarding this facility - location, reservation point, etc. All help will be appreciated. P.S. I'm trying to impress my bride with how useful I am.
