Fred.

This question should be posted to Ground Transportation where you can get info on the free weekday shuttle bus between Ramstein and Frankfurt Main airport. (It leaves Ramstein Pax terminal at 1000, and returns around 1400 from Frankfurt -- passengers usually wait at the airport USO for the return bus.)

Fred, This should be in Ground Trans section BUT you might check Avis and Hertz(both have offices in Ramstein Village-retirees can't use onbase offices)for one way rentals if your considering train as two of you are traveling with baggage. I've used Avis for years. Very convenient and accommodating. Bob

Fred,

This should probably be moved to the Ground Transportation Forum but you can check the Ground Transportation info at spacea.net's Ramstein Wiki Page for options from the Frankfurt A/P to Ramstein and returning to the A/P.

The Train is available from Frankfurt Airport itself and you could make connections to Ramstein or Landstuhl (nearest train station). See the Deutsch-Bahn Web Site link (and other links) from the spacea.net Germany Transportation section for schedule and fares.

Not sure about a bus.

Thanks for the previous input. Additional request. What options are there from the Frankfurt A/P to Ramstein and returning to the A/P. Is there a shuttle or other military options, train, bus, etc. Thanking you in advance.

Eurorail passes, are only available for purchase in the US. If you get to Germany and decide you want some sort of rail pass you will have to find some sort of ticket combos direct from Deutsch Bahn. My experience is that advance purchase always yields cheaper tickets, not including internet "specials" and other promotions. Go to bahn.de and poke around.

Fred: Space A quarters should be available during that time period. You can catch flights from Ramstein to England or Italy (Aviano) and back to Ramstein. Happy Travels.

My wife and I are flying commercially roundtrip to Frankfurt for 3 weeks, April 27th - May 14th. We are planing on utilizing RamStein as our staging base for travel within Europe. A trip to Paris and Rome primarily but other day/2 day side trips. What are your experiences getting space at Ramstein this time of year? It would be a situation of 2 or 3 days then off to another country for a couple of days then back to Ramstein. Space A possibilities to England and Italy. Definately several days to Paris. I've heard about the EURORAIL. Are tickets same at walkup as advanced purchase. Ryan Air sounds as a possibility. Just general guidence, recommendations and opinions are appeciated.
