If you have grandkids Tyndall is the best bet. The TLF's have 3 bedrooms and are about $50 a night. The beach is among the best I have ever seen. Nice bowling, library, commissary, bx.

I live in Panama City and work at the Navy Base. There is a campground and cabins on the beach/park of the Navy Base. Tyndall also has TLF's available. Tyndall is about 45 minutes east of the Navy Base, which is located in Panama City Beach.

May also want to check Navy Gateway Inn & Suites at Naval Support Activity, Panama City.
1-877-NAVY-BED (628-9233). Local number is 850-234-4217.
Also, the http://www.dodlodging.net/ link that dinotars posted.

You likely won't be able to make a reservation more than 30 days out.

Nice small beach on base and not too far from larger beaches. Rental car strongly suggested.

Tyndall is nice. But do they have restrictions on kindern in billeting? I don't know, just asking. They have a lot of flight personnel there.

The Army has a small rec area near Panama City at Destin;it is run out of Ft Benning. We stayed there last year and thought it was very nice. They have hotel rooms, efficiencies and cottages that are all a stone's throw from the water. The beach itself is very sparse but they have a nice long pier and during the season they offer boat rentals, etc.
We had a hotel room which had just been redone and was VERY comfortable.
A word of caution though-we tried to get a room recently and were told that due to ongoing renovations they had very little availability for the near future. So call first before showing up.
The phone number is 850-837-6423. Hope this helps!
