If I were you, I would get educated on Priceline & bid on a Long Island room. Just did a search on Priceline rooms on the unofficial website, www.betterbidding.com. According to my search, hotels in Long Island have been had for as low as $40 plus taxes/fee. (Hilton Garden Inn). Other prices were $46 & $60, etc for other 3 star hotels. Here's the link to my search. http://www.betterbidding.com/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=2dab508605c 3d5918e718e48ff5f3df7&search_in=titles&result_type=topics&highlite=%2Blong+%2Bis land |

Other than Ft. Hamilton, is there any military lodging available on Long Island. I have checked all of the usual lodging sites and can't find anything. If not, any suggestions of resonably priced hotel/motels mid-island area? We will be going to a memorial service in Amityville in a couple of weeks and need a place to stay. Thanks David |
