Leland--you probably hit the nail on the head--staff was probably reduced to a skeleton for the Easter weekend.

I know when we were there a couple weeks ago, they said they didn't have any room. Asked about Ft Dix, and they said they are all in the same group now, so didn't call. Asked for any ideas, and they said to go to the Days Inn off base. There were quite a few Military staying there.

William, just a guess on my part. Room availability is based not only the the presence of empty rooms, but also on housekeeping staff to service the rooms. Sort of like when you see a restaurant 1/3 empty, but you have to wait for a table because they don't have enough servers to cover all the tables.

My guess - they gave almost all the housekeeping staff the Easter weekend off, anticipating zero to few guests.

DeeDee--there are about six old blds to the left of the main complex as you face the main door, plus the original blds closer to the old Officers Club.We have stayed there several times. It seems that the Ft Dix lodging is now also a part of McGuire.I just found it hard to believe that not one room was open.I know its tough getting a room during a weekend drill, but this was a holiday weekend.Oh well, will see in May.Have a Happy.

We were there a couple of weeks ago. My husband had just finished a training course. He had made us reservations before the class started, so we had a room, but others who had not made reservations early could not get rooms. So, I am not surprised that they were full this weekend. Also, the building we were in was not the same one the office is in.

Called the Air Force Inn at McGuire to see if they had any rooms available for one night on Easter weekend.I was told that they are booked solid for the whole month of April and nothing would be available. Since I was going to be in the area anyway,I stopped by the main desk to double check-- 5 clerks were sitting around when I came in,no one in the lobby and again I was told that nothing was available-no cancellations. This was late evening and the parking lots looked fairly empty. Most of the rooms did not have any lights on.I took a ride over to Ft Dix Doughboy Inn--again-one car in the lot at 2030hrs--no more front desk --notice said that all billeting operations moved over to McGuire. It looked weird--except for one car and only the outdoor lights were on-the rooms looked unoccupied, yet no rooms available.Has the McGuire billeting operations been taken over by a civilian contractor???
