The suites were full up on the weekend we were there. I did not see them. They were less expensive and they might be just fine.

The base also has Hunter Suites on Leonard Neal Street which I think I is the one I stayed at in 2009 and was okay with me.

This is the location I was talking about. It was so-so. For the price, there are better locations.

I'm confused. Alan says Hunter AAF is the nicest military housing he has ever stayed at but John says it was dirty and he wouldn't recommend it. Are we talking about the same place?

I have stayed at HAAF and The Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Both were very nice . HAAF was the nicest military base housing I have ever been in.

Linda: Friends stayed this week at the Kings Bay Naval Sub Base near St Mary's Ga. $40/night for a very nice room; not sure how far it is from SAV, not far off I95 tho.

My wife and I stayed on Hunter AAF last year. I do not recommend it. The carpets were dirty enought that it showed on the bottom of our shoes.

Linda, perhaps you can drive north to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island for a room. If not, there also is Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort. They're not a long drive.

I have always had good luck with Hotwire.com. I got a great hotel for May at a great price. They don't tell you the name of the hotel until after you book, but I've never had a bad experience. You will see the star rating (2,3,4) and the price. Since you want it for this weekend, the last minute prices are even better. Good luck.

We will be in Savannah this Friday and Saturday nights. Can anyone suggest inexpensive or moderately priced lodging? We need 3 rooms, one handicap accesible (for scooter). I am assuming we would not be able to get lodging at Hunter. Thanks.
