I especially loved Seward as well. We rented a car so we could stop along the way. Stay at the Army resort ( sewardresort.com ). Go deep-sea fishing for halibut/salmon from one of the four Army charter fishing boats. The Seward Resort offers discounted tickets and tours through local operators. Would suggest taking the AK railroad. The base IT office can set you up for a trip up to Denali and beyond should you desire. Many folks like to go down to the coast and see all the wonders which you can also do by rail as well. The AK railroad is a wonderful way to see Alaska. I would suggest the dome cars over the coach but either one will give you a bird's eye view of the landscape.
