I just wrote a msg on this topic to the other web site. Guess we have concurrent forums going. Anyway, we did make reservations prior to arrival tonight. Please see Dirk's new web site for the rest of our comments on this facility. It's beautiful, but functionally not ready. BTW, we were not told we have to move out tomorrow! |

We are in one of the old AF rooms @ Andrews...Checked in @ new facility this evening and all rooms in the new facility will need to be vacated tomorrow for some big group coming in. ThAT made us glad to be in the old rooms! We talked to someone who said their lamp did not work in the new room and then they realized there were no light bulbs!!!!! The whole place smells like fresh paint and wallpaper glue!!!Did not see the rooms but the lobby is nice!!!! |

We're on a C17 heading to Andrews now. The lodging ph # is 301-981-4614. We have a room for tonight, but not after that. Space was tight. We were told we would probably be at the new lodge, but would find out for sure at check-in. We also got rooms at Bethesda for 2 nights. Those rez were made at the same number I mentioned above. Good luck to you! ~Cindy |

Carole & John: I just checked DODlodging.net and it is not showing a Gateway Inn at Andrews AFB/Maryland. So, for now, the Inn rates are not known. However, Andrews AFB's listing shows VOQ rooms @ $39/night and VAQ rooms @ $34.75/night. Now these are indeed bargain rates for the DC area! Say goodbye to them if the Navy takes over Andrews billeting and charges $56/night for a standard room. |

If the new facility is charging $56 night, it would be a bargain. It would be well worth the money spent for a room with brand new beds, etc. I sure wouldn't mind. |

Does anyone know if the new Andrews AFB Gateway Inn will be charging the high $56/night rate that seems to be standard at Navy facilities up and down the east coast? If so, Air Force lodging, if available and still $38/night for a standard room, offers a much better deal. |

The construction has been going on for awhile on the new lodging building. Once opened there will be no Navy lodging (the brick building across street from PX area). And, all the smaller one story quad buildings (that are close to the office now) will be torn down. They are debating what to do with the (two story?) lodging building that is adjacent to the old O'club area. The new facility will be very nice. Hopefully, will have more rooms and space-a folks can get in when needed. |

I called the Gateway Inn @ Andrews this AM for SpaceA rms next month. The agent said to call back the 1st wk in June when they start booking for the brand new facility. I must be the only one who didn't know they were building a new billiting facility. Good news. Hope this helps the availability problems on base. |
