Kristine, I'm at the Naval Base, so I'm not sure about lodging at Anderson. The USO is not on base, it is actually downtown inside the Royal Orchid Hotel, and they are not open 24 hours. One thing this island has is hotels, so it is almost imposible not to find a place to sleep. Also many of the hotels have military discounts, but you will most likely still spend $100+ per night. At Anderson you can rent a car near the BX, but a taxi can take you anywhere downtown. If traveling with children the Pacific Island Club Resort is the place to stay, the rooms are just okay, but their water park is worth every penny. Bob Dart included a list of hotels; these are all good places to stay and all with websites. Good Luck! |

Good Luck, Kristine. We look forward to hearing about your trip. Many of the terminals will have USO's and they can be a big help for you. They normally have places where your kids can rest and computers for you to use to keep up with what is going on in the direction you are heading. What is your departure point and destination? Are you Cat IV? |

Kristine & Larry, Last info that I had that I pulled off of this site was that the terminal had gone back to 0600-2200 in August '09.... Anyone having more recent knowledge of terminal hours please advise.. |

Bob, Carole, thanks so much. Whew. Feeling better. I am traveling with kids so I just need a plan A,B,C,D... I will take notes and try to avoid Guam altogether. Also, I will let you know how it goes. |

It would be best to get a car rental if you are planning to stay off base. The Navy is about 45 min away and the Tumon hotels are at least 30 min away. Depending on the time of day, traffic is heavy at various times. It is a small island with lots of people, residents and tourists. Hotels in Tumon will be $100+. Are you going to be a couple or a single traveler? with kids? Lodging is difficult at best, but not impossible. |

Kristine, I didn't note that the Starts Guam and the Airport Hotel have/had a free shuttle service. |

Kristine, I believe in the vast majority of cases folks have been able to obtain a room at one of the three military bases on the island rather than on the economy. That said, there are going to be times, especially when exercises are being conducted or the weather goes south, that rooms are difficult to obtain. Here are some places that you may want to jot down if in the event you're unlucky:Hotels off base (*Free shuttle service available) Onward Agana Beach Resort 647-7777 Guam Reef 646-6881 Guam Plaza 646-7803 Pacific Island Club 646-9171 Royal Orchid, 626 Pale San Vitores Road, Tumon, 671-649-2000, fax: 671.649.3052, reservation@royalorchidguam.com. Westin Resort 647-1020 Guam Marriot Resort 649-7827 Outrigger 649-9000 Starts Guam 637-5151 Hilton Guam 646-1835 Airport Hotel Mai'Ana 646-6961 Hotels in Tumon Pacific Island Club Holiday Resort Hotel Nikko Hyatt Regency, 671-647-1234, Tumon Marriott, 671-649-7827, www.marriotthotels.com$135 (2008) Hilton, www.guam.hilton.com Westin Reseort, 671-647-1020 Also, these are some websites you may want to peruse before going on your trip: www.visitguam.org www.sihope.com/~tipi/chap15.html www.ns.gov.gu www.guam-online.com/military/military.htm www.nps.gov/wapa/ |

Nice civilian hotels down on Tumon Beach, they are usually full of Japanese tourists, destination is almost downtown. It would be an expensive cab ride. Navy facilities are even further away. |

Now I'm really feeling discouraged! So nobody has successfully stayed overnight in Guam? There's got to be an option here. Do you know if there is a taxi service on base so one could get downtown or to the Navy billeting? There's not much info on the AMCGram so anything would be helpful. Thanks. |

"WHeRe one would stay if not at lodging????" Navy has billeting, but it's quite a distance from Andersen AFB and little/no public transportation. Hotels are available downtown, but again, quite a distance and ditto public trans. Terminal is open 24/7 last I heard. |

I understand that lodging is difficult at Anderson. I am wondering what others have done for lodging if not at the military lodging? Is there one hotel/motel that has a good reputation here? Thanks in advance. |
