The Gateway Inn at Andrews is looking more enticing for DC travelers. You also should check the Navy Medical Center at Bethesda which is within walking distance to the Metro stop. |

When you you attempt to book at Ft Myer, you'll also see this: TAX: 10.25% per night not included in rate. Definitely not leisure travel friendly, even for D.C. |

Wow. And to think, we stayed at the Embassy Suites in Tyson's Corner just last summer for $80 a night. A Metro ride from DC, but I suspect a little nicer than "Going Army". |

Leland's point is well taken-the $155 rate is not competitive with commercial rates available to almost anyone in the Arlington area. One has to wonder what business model Holiday Inn is using. Unless there is some compelling reason to stay on Ft. Myer, anyone will do better both in dollars and ammenities elsewhere. Way to go Army. |

I hate to saying that the army lodging is a scam... but. Army lodging is supported by TDY and PCS travel and those on PCS and TDY get the high rate reimbursed. So it is no skin off the nose of troops, a big winner for those running the lodging (at taxpayer expense), and a big whizzer to those on leisure travel. |

Thanks for that. I think I found the record - a standard room at Ft. Myer - $155. |

Somebody mentioned that Fort Hood had a shuttle service to the airfield, so I went looking for the lodging info and came across this. It is the Holiday Inn corporate reservation system for some of the new privatized army places. http://www.ihgarmyhotels.com/pal/en/us/home |
